Job summary

MSD is seeking summer interns for the Discovery Chemistry and Process Research groups in multiple U.S. locations. You will work with scientists on organic synthesis projects tied to drug discovery and development, gaining hands-on experience in modern laboratory techniques and cross-functional teamwork.

The role emphasizes problem solving, data-rich experimentation, and presenting findings. Applicants should plan to provide transcripts and supporting documents if selected.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled sophomore to senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chemistry.
• Completed at least two years of studies toward a bachelor’s degree by June 2027.
• Available to work full-time for approximately 10–12 weeks from May–August 2027.
• GPA 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale).

Responsibilities

• Work alongside company scientists in an organic synthesis laboratory on pharmaceutical R&D projects.
• Advance chemical synthesis, reaction development and enabling technologies.
• Maintain accurate electronic laboratory notebooks and adhere to safe lab practices.
• Present research results in oral and written formats as part of project teams.
