Job Summary: The Drafting and Design Discipline Manager is responsible for managing key client natural gas projects, interacting with existing clients to organically grow the project base, and engaging new and potential clients to increase the client base. The Discipline Manager acts as the key internal and external contact for natural gas projects and program work of varying sizes. Responsibilities include coordinating and completing projects on time, within budget, scope, and according to company and client’s quality and technical expectations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate with PMs on resource allocation to ensure design tasks are completed on schedule.
  2. Champion a team of drafters/designers.
  3. Drive the implementation and maintenance of organization-wide CAD Standards and best practices.
  4. Hold weekly team workload coordination meetings.
  5. Manage workload and utilization of direct reports.
  6. Identify training needs and coordinate regular training sessions to enhance skills.
  7. Stay updated with the latest CAD software advancements and recommend upgrades or new tools.
  8. Oversee the drafting process from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to project specifications.
  9. Collaborate with technical leads to provide project direction to drafting/design staff.
  10. Conduct regular career development conversations with staff.
  11. Evaluate drafters/designers on established performance metrics.
  12. Coordinate with Tech Solutions to solve problems related to CAD deliverables and project technology needs.
  13. Display soft skills such as communication, interpersonal skills, organization, conflict resolution, and leadership.
  14. Assign budgeted hours to drafting/design tasks.
  15. Assist in developing project estimates (hours & cost) for proposals.
  16. Engage in solutions-driven communication.
  17. Lead active training within the organization.
  18. Use and develop leadership skills continually.
  19. Attend conferences and training to maintain proficiency.
  20. Be innovative and forward-thinking to drive change, quality, and efficiency.
  21. Leverage relationships for recruiting top talent, engaging new clients, and seeking innovative solutions.
  22. Maintain an entrepreneurial mindset, drive to complete tasks at all costs, and a desire to innovate and create.
  23. Meet and/or exceed KPIs for the role.
  24. Build depth of experience as a champion in the role.

Qualifications: Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in Engineering or a related field.

Required Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge of Natural Gas Design and related Codes.
  • Consulting background with knowledge of consulting practices and KPIs.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, driven to complete tasks at all costs, and a desire to be innovative and creative.
  • Strong work ethic, sense of urgency, self-driven, and eager to work in a production environment.
