Discipline Engineer – Water/Wastewater Discipline, located in Melville, NY

Responsibilities

• Lead projects utilizing technical knowledge and experience to develop the project team's overall capabilities.
• Manage projects from planning to design and construction of water/wastewater distribution and conveyance systems including pipelines, pump stations, storage, and end‑of‑pipe treatment facilities.
• Lead development of construction documents/specifications and handle engineering services during construction.
• Meet established budgets and delivery schedules for each assignment; for project/task scope, schedule, and budget.
• Coordinate execution of projects with other disciplines.
• Develop medium to large planning and design projects from inception to completion.
• Prepare complete construction packages (including all deliverables) for the engineering, procurement, and construction of Water/Wastewater projects.
• Create and manage cost estimates and project schedules and be responsible for completing design tasks within budget and on schedule.
• Perform detailed engineering calculations & analysis and utilize design software to solve complex issues.
• Supervise and support the work of others and mentor junior level engineer & design/drafting technical staff.

Qualifications

• 10 – 15 years’ experience in the planning, design, and construction of municipal Water/Wastewater.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related field of study.
• Experience preparing, reviewing, and approving project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
• Experience in process design, treatment plant upgrades and pump station design.
• Client relationship skills: preparation and development of proposals and client management with a record of delivering engineering projects that meet or exceed client expectations.
• Active participation in technical societies and trade organizations associated with Water/Wastewater (AWWA, WEF, ASCE, NGWA, etc).
• Strong data analysis and technical problem‑solving abilities.
• Willingness to develop competence in a broad array of engineering‑related tasks.
• Ability to train and mentor junior level staff.
• Successful track record of proposal writing and development.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• P.E. required.
• PMP is a nice to have.

Compensation

Salary range: $110,000 – $160,000 annually. Employment offer may deviate based on experience, specialty, knowledge, education, geography, or related certifications – not related to any applicant’s characteristics protected by local, state, or federal law.
