Job summary

Dauphin Way UMC in Mobile, AL is seeking an Associate Pastor of Discipleship and Missions to lead all age-level discipleship programs and mission opportunities. This full-time, on-site role reports to the Senior Pastor and SPRC Committee.

The ideal candidate may be ordained Deacon in the United Methodist Church or an experienced layperson with strong leadership and spiritual grounding, with the title potentially adjusted to Director of Discipleship and Missions.

Qualifications

• Oversees discipleship & missions programs.
• Teaches Bible studies and youth/children programming.
• Pastoral counsel grounded in United Methodist doctrine.
• Preaches at weddings, funerals, and Sunday services.
• Leads adult discipleship and Sunday School growth.

Responsibilities

• Teach Bible studies and lead children’s and youth programming.
• Provide pastoral counsel aligned with United Methodist doctrine.
• Preach weddings, funerals, and weekly services.
• Oversee cradle-to-grave discipleship ministries.
• Coordinate Adult Discipleship and new Sunday School classes.
• Supervise Directors of Student and Children’s Ministries.
• Lead service initiatives like Love Mobile and quarterly missions.
• Support mission partners and church outreach programs.
• Visit parishioners regularly and welcome newcomers.
