Job summary

UChicago Medicine in Chicago, IL is seeking an Advanced Pharmacy Technician, Registry for the Discharge Medication Program within the Pharmacy Department. This role focuses on dispensing and delivering medications for patients discharge­ing home, with exposure to inpatient care and transitions of care.

The Advanced Pharmacy Technician, Registry supports the Meds2Beds team, coordinates payments and insurance, and collaborates with nurses, pharmacists, and social workers to ensure timely discharge

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Illinois Pharmacist Tech license or eligible.
• National Certification (CPhT) required.
• 3–5 years pharmacy tech experience in retail/hospital settings.
• Strong computer, word processing, and spreadsheet skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Fill prescriptions in outpatient pharmacy.
• Dispense medications and coordinate with discharge process.
• Transport meds to bedside, unit, or discharge lounge.
• Coordinate with care team for discharge medications.
• Enroll patients into Meds2Beds program and handle copay arrangements.
• Input insurance data and process claims.
• Document in EMR and assist with inventory.
• Train new team members and support management.
