Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of disaster recovery planning, recovery runbooks, backup and recovery processes and business continuity concepts.
  • Experience supporting or coordinating disaster recovery tests, backup validation exercises or resilience initiatives.
  • Experience with disaster recovery or backup platforms such as Onspring, Cohesity or Rubrik is preferred.
  • Strong project coordination, organizational and follow-up skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and document disaster recovery exercises, tests and validation activities across systems and cloud environments.
  • Assist with backup integrity testing and recovery validation using tools like Cohesity and Rubrik.
  • Review Business Impact Analysis and identify gaps, risks and dependencies affecting recovery objectives.
  • Track readiness, testing results and risk mitigation; prepare reports for IT leadership.
  • Serve as liaison during audits and regulatory reviews related to disaster recovery readiness.
  • Research industry practices and trends; recommend improvements for resiliency and recovery.

New Jersey Resources is seeking a Disaster Recovery Coordinator to support the administration, coordination and continuous improvement of NJR’s Information Technology Disaster Recovery Program. This role helps ensure critical technology systems, applications, infrastructure and data can be recovered effectively following a disruption or disaster event. The Coordinator works closely with Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Business Continuity, business stakeholders and third-party vendors to support disaster recovery readiness and operational resilience.

Major Responsibilities
  • Support the administration, coordination and continuous improvement of NJR’s Information Technology Disaster Recovery Program.
  • Maintain disaster recovery plans, recovery runbooks, emergency and vendor contact information, recovery team assignments, critical systems inventories and related program documentation.
  • Coordinate periodic reviews and updates of disaster recovery documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness and alignment with business continuity, risk management, audit and compliance requirements.
  • Partner with Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Business Continuity, business stakeholders and third-party vendors to document recovery requirements, dependencies and recovery strategies for critical systems, applications, infrastructure and data.
  • Plan, coordinate and document disaster recovery exercises, recovery tests and backup recovery validation activities, including testing involving infrastructure, applications, databases, cloud environments and backup platforms.
  • Assist with backup integrity testing and recovery validation using tools such as Cohesity and Rubrik.
  • Review Business Impact Analysis information and help identify gaps, risks and dependencies that may impact recovery objectives, including Recovery Time Objectives and Recovery Point Objectives.
  • Track disaster recovery readiness, testing results, compliance metrics, corrective actions and risk mitigation efforts; prepare related reports and updates for IT leadership.
  • Serve as a liaison during internal audits, external audits, regulatory examinations and compliance reviews related to disaster recovery readiness and evidence.
  • Research industry practices, technologies, standards and trends related to disaster recovery, business continuity, data protection, high availability, cloud recovery and cyber resilience; recommend improvements as appropriate.
  • Participate in strategic initiatives involving resiliency, backup modernization, recovery improvements and operational resilience.
Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Business Continuity or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of seven years of IT experience required, including at least three years of experience in disaster recovery, business continuity or a related discipline preferred.
  • Strong understanding of disaster recovery planning, recovery runbooks, backup and recovery processes, recovery testing and business continuity concepts.
  • Experience supporting or coordinating disaster recovery tests, backup validation exercises, recovery documentation or technology resilience initiatives.
  • Experience with disaster recovery, business continuity or backup/recovery platforms such as Onspring, Cohesity or Rubrik preferred.
  • Strong project coordination, organizational and follow-up skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and support cross-functional initiatives.
  • Effective written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with IT teams, business stakeholders and third-party vendors.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills, including the ability to analyze issues, identify risks and recommend practical solutions.
  • Ability to support planned disaster recovery testing, maintenance activities, critical incidents and recovery events outside normal business hours, including 24x7x365 support as required.
  • Valid driver’s license required; occasional travel to NJR facilities may be necessary.

Other Details:

Location type is Hybrid.

Compensation: Expected base pay range for this role will be $92,500- $125,000.

Base pay is based on several factors including, experience, skills, and knowledge.

This role will be eligible to participate in an annual short term incentive program.
