About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Disaster Recovery (DR) Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Architect to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing disaster recovery solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of on-premises, cloud-based (AWS, Azure, etc.) and hybrid DR architectures, and the ability to lead and support DR initiatives across various highly integrated applications and environments.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design & Architecture: Develop and maintain comprehensive DR standards, strategies and architectures that ensure the resilience and continuity of applications and business operations of varying criticality levels. This includes on-premises, cloud-based and hybrid solutions, with a focus on AWS. Demonstrate strong understanding of virtualization concepts essential for Disaster Recovery, including hypervisors (e.g., VMware vSphere, Hyper-V), virtual machine snapshots, replication technologies, and virtual networking within hybrid and multi-cloud environments
• Demonstrate strong understanding of networking components critical to Disaster Recovery, including subnets, routing, VPNs, firewall rules, DNS, and bandwidth planning across hybrid environments
• Implementation & Management: Advise application teams in the implementation and management of DR environments, ensuring they meet the required standards and performance metrics. This includes hands-on experience with DR applications such as Zerto, DRS, SRM, and Veeam.
• Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the primary DR SME, providing guidance and support to application teams and other stakeholders. This includes facilitating DR plan development, documentation, and testing. Strong understanding of industry standards and requirements (NIST, HIPAA, ISO 22301, etc.)
• Collaboration: Work closely with various departments to ensure a holistic approach to DR and resilience. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve DR readiness and resiliency objectives. • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement along the maturity curve for DR/HA capabilities and drive initiatives to enhance the overall DR posture of the organization. Evaluate and recommend technologies for data backup, replication, failover, and orchestration (e.g., Rubrik, Veeam, Zerto, Cohesity, SRM, DRS, etc.).
• Training & Support: Provide training and support to application teams and other technical resources, ensuring they are equipped to handle DR tasks effectively.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred – equivalent experience equally accepted.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in DR architecture and implementation, with a strong focus on AWS, VMware and Containers. Minimum of 3 years of experience in Consulting Engagements (true consultation, not merely contracting)
• Technical Skills: Expertise in DR applications such as Zerto, DRS, SRM, and Veeam. Strong understanding of holistic architecture, application interdependence and system stability.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications in DR and cloud architecture (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Certified Disaster Recovery Engineer) are highly desirable.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Consulting: Minimum of 5 years performing DR related roles in a consulting professional services capacity delivering time-bound, objective and outcomes driven, project work.
