Job summary

UC Santa Cruz is seeking a part-time Auto Equipment Operator to transport campus affiliates, staff, faculty, and students. The role covers fixed routes, pre-booked, or on-demand service with a 16-hour per week schedule, 40% appointment time, and potential shift variations on Mon-Sun, TBD.

Salary is budgeted at $26.69/hour with a $1.25 evening/night shift differential. This position is not eligible for benefits and is based on campus transportation needs.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of driving laws as per California Vehicle Code.
• Ability to operate campus vehicles safely and follow routes and schedules.
• Good interpersonal skills for passenger assistance and communication.
• Experience with two-way radios and disability-friendly procedures.
• Ability to log records and maintain safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Drive campus vehicles and transport passengers to designated locations.
• Maintain routes, schedules, and timely pickups/drop-offs.
• Complete driver logs and vehicle check-out sheets per policy.
• Assist passengers with disabilities and operate accessibility features.
• Communicate policies and safety procedures to customers.
• Coordinate via radio and stay compliant with FCC regulations.
• Interact professionally with campus community and the public.
