Job summary

TURN Community Services is seeking a full-time Day Program Coordinator to support individuals with disabilities through art and learning. You will supervise and implement person-centered plans, ensuring wellbeing and progress in daily activities at the art-centered program.

The role requires supervisory experience, strong communication and computer skills, and the ability to drive large vehicles. Growth opportunities and comprehensive benefits accompany this position.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1 year of work experience with individuals with IDD; experience with challenging behaviors will be given preference.
  • A minimum of 1 year supervisory experience in a work setting, including interviewing and hiring staff, monitoring and evaluating performance, staff training and development, staff discipline and scheduling.
  • Experience with various forms of art and the ability to teach classes at the program.
  • A minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Own personal, reliable transportation.
  • Valid driver's license, current motor vehicle insurance, and clean driving record.
  • Must be willing to drive large program buses and vans, and be willing to train new employees to drive large vehicles.
  • Strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, supervise, and participate in the development and implementation of person-centered and behavior support plans for each person.
  • Ensure that each individual's goals and well-being are met through their individualized support plan while at the art and learning day program.
  • Provide support for personal hygiene, moving or transfers (up to 50 pounds), and behavior management.
  • Serve as TURN representative in the community and with stakeholders, building and maintaining positive relationships.
  • Help individuals with disabilities in the art and learning program gain independence by teaching various skills.

We provide resources to more than 850 individuals with developmental disabilities. With locations from Brigham City to St. George, we offer a full range of services including day programs, residential living, art center programs, summer camp, and supported employment opportunities.

What You Do As a Day Program Coordinator

As a Day Program Coordinator, you make a huge impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities. You're responsible for monitoring, supervising, and participating in the development and implementation of person-centered and behavior support plans for each person. Not only that, but you also ensure that each individual's personal goals and well-being are being met through their individualized support plan while at the art and learning day program.

This center specialized in teaching all forms of art; drawing, singing, dancing, painting, playing of various instruments and more. In addition, you also get to spend time assisting the individuals having fun out and about. The Coordinator ensures support for and assists individuals with personal hygiene, frequent assistance with moving or transfers which includes lifting up to 50 pounds, and behavior management. Strong behavior management skills and consistent adherence to established behavior plans are vital.

You're the TURN representative in the community and other professional settings, meaning you're the go-to person for all stakeholders. An exceptional communicator, you enjoy building and maintaining positive relationships. In addition to all of that, you help individuals with disabilities in the art and learning program learn various skills to gain independence in their lives.

Schedule

The typical schedule for this position is Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:30am to 5:30pm, including various staff meetings approximately 4 times a month that will go into the early evening.

In addition, flexibility to work outside of the typical schedule will be needed for program and agency events. At times this may include working into the late evening and on the weekend.
