Job summary

The Harlem YMCA, part of the YMCA of Greater New York, is seeking a Director, Youth & Family to oversee youth, teen, and family programs, including afterschool and summer day camp. This full-time role leads staff, partners with schools, and ensures program quality and safety.

Bachelor’s in Education is required; Master’s in Education or Social Work preferred. 3–8 years of leadership experience, First Aid/CPR, and knowledge of youth development are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education is required.
• Master’s Degree in Education or Social Work preferred.
• 3–5 years of leadership experience supervising youth and family programs; 5–8 years preferred.
• Knowledge of Youth Development Principles.
• Current First Aid/CPR certifications.
• Knowledge of Child Abuse Prevention Training.
• Knowledge of program planning & evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Oversight of all Youth, Teen, and Family Programs.
• Manage program sites and ensure goals and outcomes meet government contracts.
• Train staff who implement all Association and program policies for safety and quality.
• Serve as a liaison with school and community partners.
• Build strong program content in education, physical fitness, and cultural awareness.
• Oversee reporting to the Association Office, funders, and government contracts.
• Develop community partnerships that strengthen program content.
• Meet budget goals and operating net for all departments.
• Market programs to achieve enrollment targets, including SACC and summer camp.
• Work with the Board of Managers.
• Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD).

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Education

Master’s Degree in Education or Social Work preferred

Leadership experience supervising youth and family programs

Knowledge of Youth Development Principles

First Aid/CPR certifications

Child Abuse Prevention Training
