Job summary

AmTrust Financial Services seeks a Director of Workers’ Compensation Claims to lead a growing Princeton-based team. This role partners closely with Claims Leadership and Managers (5–8 direct reports) to ensure claims are handled per AmTrust Best Practices while fostering high performance, mentorship, and staff development.

The ideal candidate will have a BA/BS and proven experience leading workers' compensation claims teams, with strong knowledge of WC laws.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience leading workers' compensation claims teams.
• Proven ability in staff leadership, coaching and development.
• Familiarity with applicable state and federal WC laws and regulations.
• Local to Princeton, NJ and able to work onsite on a hybrid basis.

• Guide strategic initiatives based on leadership strengths.
• Improve processes within the claims system and workflow.
• Oversee vendor usage, attorney panel management, and strategy.
• Participate in hearings, depositions, and settlement negotiations as needed.
• Partner with underwriting and sales teams to support business opportunities.
• Conduct audits to ensure quality, compliance and standards.

Overview

AmTrust Financial Services is seeking a Director of Workers’ Compensation Claims to lead a growing team supporting Princeton claim operations. This leader will partner closely with Claims Leadership and Claim Managers (5–8 direct reports) to ensure claims are handled according to AmTrust Best Practices, while driving high performance, mentorship, and staff development.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead and develop a team of 5–8 Claim Managers.
• Champion recruitment, mentorship, skill-building, and internal mobility, helping grow future WC leaders from within.

Strategic & Operational Oversight

• Develop short range plans and budgets in alignment with company objectives.
• Ensure adherence to all AmTrust policies, procedures, and controls.
• Provide consistent communication to Claims Supervisors on case activity, performance, and operational needs.
• Participate in and guide strategic initiatives, determined based on the leader's background and strengths.

Claims Quality & Process Improvement

• Improve and refine processes within the claims system and workflow.
• Monitor and guide vendor usage; oversee attorney panel management and strategy.
• Participate in hearings, trials, depositions, and settlement negotiations as needed.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with underwriting and sales teams to support business development opportunities.
• Conduct audits to ensure consistent quality, compliance, and application of company standards.
• Stay current on relevant laws and regulations and communicate changes to staff.
• Maintains current knowledge of related laws and regulations and communicates to staff.
• Performs other projects as assigned.
