Job summary

FirstEnergy seeks a Director, Wildfire Mitigation to lead the end-to-end risk strategy, governance, and program execution across multiple state jurisdictions. You will own the WMP portfolio, drive regulatory recovery and PSPS protocols, and build an integrated center of excellence across engineering, data science, field operations, and regulatory affairs.

The role requires senior leadership experience in large utilities, with a focus on wildfire risk, grid hardening, and emergency management.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in investor-owned or large public power utilities or critical infrastructure risk.
• Lead cross-functional programs and multi-state initiatives with regulatory recovery.
• Experience in wildfire risk, grid hardening, vegetation risk, or emergency management.

Responsibilities

• Set and govern the enterprise wildfire mitigation strategy and portfolio.
• Chair governance councils and align with risk appetite and asset management.
• Drive regulatory filings, PSPS protocols, and cost-recovery strategies.
• Lead cross-functional teams across engineering, data science, and operations.
• Establish KPIs, provide executive dashboards, and report to Board committees.
• Oversee capital and O&M budgets with transparent cost controls.
