Job summary

Campaign Legal Center seeks a Director of Voting Rights Policy in Washington, DC. This role leads a team focused on state-level advocacy, policy implementation, and coordination with cross-functional partners to defend and expand the freedom to vote.

The Director provides legal expertise, drafts policy proposals, testifies before legislatures, and collaborates with coalitions to advance pro-voter objectives at federal, state, and local levels. Telework options apply.

Qualifications

• Eight years of legal experience required.
• Managerial and leadership experience is expected.
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills are essential.
• Ability to explain legal issues to non-legal audiences.
• Commitment to voting rights and mission of CLC.
• Experience on voting rights policy and election law preferred.
• State or local policy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee state legislative and policy activities of the team and coordinate staff.
• Identify policy priorities and priority states for advocacy.
• Build and maintain relationships with state and local partners.
• Conduct legal research, analysis, writing, and advocacy.
• Draft legislation, policy proposals, and legal materials.
• Conduct administrative advocacy with election officials and records requests.
• Contribute to federal voting rights commentary as needed.
• Represent CLC’s voting rights team to media and external audiences.
• Manage voting rights team members and fellows.
• Other duties as assigned.
