Job summary

The New York City Mayor's Office, including the Mayor's Office for International Affairs, connects our city to global partners and foreign governments to advance urban policy and international cooperation.

The Director will oversee delegations, coordinate with City agencies and consulates, and lead relationship management for assigned regions, ensuring efficient exchanges and mutual benefits for New York City.

Qualifications

• Experience managing high‑level international delegations, diplomatic engagements, major events, or intergovernmental initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of international affairs, diplomatic protocol, and municipal governance with the ability to facilitate policy exchange and collaboration.
• Experience coordinating across government agencies, foreign governments, consulates, international organizations, and external stakeholders.
• Excellent project management, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to manage complex initiatives in fast-paced or emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate vetting and logistics for receiving international delegations visiting NYC's municipal government.
• Design and facilitate exchanges between visiting delegations and City agencies that promote collaboration and sharing of best practices on urban challenges.
• Work closely with IA staff assigned to regions, and coordinate with City Hall, City agencies, consulates, and external partners to ensure successful visits.
• Serve as the office’s lead relationship manager for an assigned geographic region, maintaining partnerships with foreign governments and diplomatic representatives.
