Role Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong client relationships by discussing and subsequently delivering accurate, appropriate legal options aligned with client goals
- Work closely with clients to build and maintain a strong and strategic immigration program for clients, proactively providing key insights and data analytics to drive optimized employee experience, mitigate compliance risks, forecasts for the future and manage costs effectively
- Introduce innovative technologies, automations and efficiencies to client’s immigration program
- Oversee and manage a portfolio of multinational clients from various sectors assisting them with the overall management of their global immigration program, including governance of global SLAs, responsiveness, handling issues and escalations that occur within the various regions and local offices and ensuring that global coordination for each client is delivered seamlessly and efficiently
- Collaborate with legal, corporate tax, HR departments, and senior management to identify global mobility strategy, program governance, policy, process and service delivery needs
- Oversee multiple, challenging business immigration engagements, ensuring the timely and successful delivery of immigration services to clients, ensuring service level agreements and appropriate client satisfaction levels are regularly met and sustained
- Act as point of escalation for key client contact, managing and resolving complex case escalations and immigration issues, providing expert legal guidance to reach positive outcomes.
- Oversee and manage attorneys and case workers, providing mentorship and oversight on case management and the application of immigration law
- Engage in activities to build a network and attract new clients
- Maintain regular and effective communication with clients, addressing queries, providing legal advice, and supporting their immigration needs
- Analyze complex immigration matters and develop a range of informed, meaningful recommendations to address client issues
- Develop a point of view on key global immigration trends and advise clients on how these trends may impact their immigration strategies
- Summarize complex legal information, ensuring clarity for clients, stakeholders, and internal teams
- Review and approve the work of junior team members, signing off on immigration
applications before submission to government authorities
- Uphold the firm’s code of ethics and business conduct, ensuring that all immigration
engagements meet high ethical and professional standards
Role Requirements And Preferences
- Minimum Degree Required: Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree.
- Preferred Fields of Study: Law.
Experience
- 10+ years of experience of US immigration law, with a focus on managing complex immigration cases and leading legal teams.
- Demonstrated experience in managing client relationships and handling escalations in a leadership capacity.
Certifications
- Active membership with a US state bar association is required.
Skills And Qualifications
- Immigration Law Expertise: At least 10 years of hands-on experience in US immigration law and global coordination, including managing large engagements and complex legal matters.
- Client Relationship Management: Proven ability to manage client relationships, addressing their immigration needs while providing tailored legal solutions.
- Leadership & Team Management: Strong leadership skills, with experience mentoring and managing legal teams, including caseworkers and junior attorneys.
- Attention to Detail: Must be meticulous in drafting immigration submission materials and client communications, with an eye for detail.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to analyze complex immigration issues and develop effective, evidence-based solutions.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex legal matters for clients and stakeholders.
- Ethics & Professionalism: A strong commitment to upholding ethical standards and professional conduct in all client engagements.
