Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Director of Training for Optum Physician Advisor & Utilization Management Services. This remote role leads a ~12-person team across US and global sites including Manila and Puerto Rico, delivering onboarding and ongoing clinical education.

You will drive quality assurance, content management, and process improvements aligned to medical necessity guidelines and denials workflows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of people leadership experience in healthcare.
• 3+ years leading training program development or education.
• 3+ years in utilization management operations.
• 3+ years knowledge of medical necessity criteria (InterQual/MCG).
• 2+ years leading globally distributed or multi-site teams.
• Active MD/DO/RN license required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a multidisciplinary training and quality team across onshore and global locations.
• Direct end-to-end design and delivery of onboarding and ongoing education.
• Establish QA processes, metrics, and audit dashboards for utilization workflows.
• Align training with medical necessity guidelines and denials management.
• Collaborate with physician, nursing and operations teams to drive quality improvements.
• Manage learning platforms and dashboards (EQT, Thought Industries).
• Maintain global standards to ensure client satisfaction across 500+ clients.
