About Us: We are a rapidly growing semi-pro pickleball organization dedicated to supporting the underserved pickleball marketing, specifically targeting competive, amateur-level play. Our unique tournament format consists of an average of 15 divisions with a total purse of $7,500 where every division competes for a purse prize, creates a competivite, fun player experience, ensuring that all players are treated like pros, fostering a sense of community and competition. We are seeking dynamic individuals with a startup mindset to lead our tournament sales and partnerships in a specified region.
About the Role: As the Tournament Director of your specified region, you will be the driving force behind the success of our tournaments and sponsorships. You will oversee the operations of 25+ tournaments annually, and develop and manage relationships with top-notch facilities, ensuring each tournament runs smoothly and effectively. This is a fully remote position, with the option to travel to tournaments (but not necessary). Your primary responsibilities will include building partnerships, securing sponsorships, and developing a unique player experience for each location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Closing Tournaments: You will develop relationships with the facility leadership teams to pitch our unique tournament format, including moneyball and prize pool dollars that each division will win. You will be their trusted advisor to help them envison how partnering with SPP will bring new eyes to their facility, and provide a competitive player experience similar to the pros.
- Partnership Development: Identify, approach, and secure partnerships and sponsorships with local and regional businesses to enhance tournament offerings, visibility and reach.
- Facility Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with facility owners and managers, negotiating terms that are beneficial for tournament operations.
- Marketing Strategy: You will work with the Director of Marketing to help develop and implement targeted marketing plans and materials for each tournament, taking into account locatioin-specific trends and needs.
- Team Collaboration: Work clsoely with sales and events coordinators, jumping in to assist as needed to ensure seamless tournament operations and event execution, remotely.
- Market Analysis: Continuously assess market trendds and player feedback to adapt operations and marketing strategies for maximum impact.
- Tech Savvy: Utilize process automation tools and technology to streamline operations and improve efficiency across all tournament activities.
- Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel 10-20% to support tournament operations and build partnerships with an expense budget.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in sales, operations, sponsorships and partnerships.
- Strong background in partnership development and sponsorship acquisition, preferably in the sports or recreational industry.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with facility owners and managers, sponsors and partners.
- Highly motivated self-starter with a flexible mindset, able to adapt to the dynamic nature of a startup environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Familiarity with process automation tools and technology to enhance operational efficiency.

Compensation:
- Compensaton is 100% commission, based on hitting operational targets and closure of sponsor/partnership contracts.
