Job Summary (Primary Function)

This position is a key member of the business development transactions team, reporting to the Division Vice President, Head of Business Development. It involves leading opportunity analyses, creating summary presentations, developing forecast and valuation models, and supporting other BD&L activities, including contract negotiations. The role also requires presenting analyses to internal teams and senior management.

Essential Functions of the Job (Key Responsibilities)
  • Lead opportunity assessment related to licensing/acquisition of molecules in oncology and inflammation/autoimmunity, including:
  • Assessment of preclinical and clinical data
  • Analysis of market dynamics and competitive landscapes
  • Conducting primary and secondary research for market and competitive analysis
  • Outlining product positioning
  • Creating detailed revenue forecasts and valuation models
  • Analyzing comparable deals in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Summarizing analyses in comprehensive opportunity presentations
  • Collaborating with internal teams to prepare presentations on out-licensing opportunities and due diligence data rooms
  • Providing input on deal structures and financial considerations
  • Assisting and leading negotiations of term sheets and final agreements
Qualifications (Minimum Requirements)
  • Advanced degree in science (M.S., R.Ph., Pharm.D., M.D., Ph.D.) and an MBA or equivalent
  • 7+ years of experience in equity research, consulting, or industry within pharma/biotech, with a focus on business development, preferably in oncology
  • Expertise in building valuation models and presentations, with experience in term sheet and contract negotiations
  • Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a good understanding of pharmacology are preferred
