Job summary

Fidelity Investments seeks a Director to lead the strategy, design, governance, and continuous improvement of time away from work programs for associates. You will partner across HR, Legal, Compliance, and external vendors to ensure regulatory compliance and operational excellence while maintaining a positive associate experience.

You will translate workforce needs into program enhancements, lead cross-functional initiatives, and oversee governance and successful implementation of the time away

Qualifications

  • 8–10+ years in benefits, leave administration, HR policy, compliance, or related areas with increasing responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of time away programs and related regulations.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives from strategy to implementation.
  • Experience influencing stakeholders and partnering across HR, Legal, Compliance.
  • Strong analytical skills with data-driven decision capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint; HRIS or benefits systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead ongoing strategy, design, and enhancement of Fidelity's time away from work programs, aligning with business objectives and market practices.
  • Assess program performance, utilization trends, benchmarking data, legislative developments, and associate feedback to identify opportunities.
  • Partner with HR Shared Services, capacity planning teams, and external vendors for effective program administration.
  • Collaborate with Legal and Compliance to monitor regulatory developments and oversee policy updates, governance, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Lead cross-functional projects and program implementations, coordinating stakeholders and system changes.
  • Establish and maintain program documentation and governance practices for consistency and compliance.
  • Leverage data, analytics, and reporting to evaluate program effectiveness and provide leadership insights.
  • Develop communications, training materials, and resources to support associate understanding and utilization of time away programs.
  • Foster relationships across HR and business teams to ensure programs meet evolving needs.

The Role

As the Director, Time Away from Work Programs, you will lead the strategy, design, governance, and continuous improvement of Fidelity's time away from work programs. Reporting to the Head of Financial and Work Life Benefits, you will partner across Human Resources, Legal, Compliance, business unit capacity planning teams, and external vendors to ensure Fidelity's programs support associates throughout key life events while maintaining operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and a positive associate experience. You will serve as a subject matter expert on time away programs, translating business needs, workforce trends, and market practices into program enhancements and strategic recommendations. In this role, you will lead cross-functional initiatives, oversee program governance, and drive the successful implementation and administration of Fidelity's time away from work strategy.

The Expertise and Skills you Bring
  • 8–10 plus years of experience in benefits, leave administration, HR policy, compliance, or related areas, with increasing responsibility for program strategy and management
  • Strong knowledge of time away programs, including applicable federal, state, and local regulations, and the ability to translate complex requirements into practical business solutions
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional initiatives and driving program, policy, or process changes from strategy through implementation.
  • Experience influencing stakeholders and building partnerships across HR, Legal, Compliance, and business teams
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data and insights to identify trends, develop recommendations, and support decision-making
  • Excellent communication, relationship management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, navigate ambiguity, and drive results in a dynamic environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint; experience with HRIS, leave management, or benefits administration systems preferred
  • Assist with various benefits projects; and other duties as assigned
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the ongoing strategy, design, and enhancement of Fidelity's time away from work programs, ensuring alignment with business objectives, associate needs, and market practices
  • Assess program performance, utilization trends, benchmarking data, legislative developments, and associate feedback to identify opportunities and develop recommendations that support the evolution of Fidelity's programs
  • Partner with HR Shared Services, business unit capacity planning teams, and external vendors to ensure effective program administration and a seamless associate experience
  • Collaborate with Legal and Compliance partners to monitor regulatory developments and oversee policy updates, governance activities, audits, and risk assessments related to time away programs
  • Lead cross-functional projects and program implementations, coordinating stakeholders and ensuring successful execution of policy, process, and system changes
  • Establish and maintain program documentation and governance practices that promote consistency and compliance across the organization
  • Leverage data, analytics, and reporting to evaluate program effectiveness, identify trends, and provide insights and recommendations to leadership
  • Develop communications, training materials, and resources that support associate understanding and effective utilization of time away programs
  • Foster strong relationships across Human Resources and business teams to ensure programs continue to meet evolving workforce and organizational needs
The Team

This role reports into the Head of Financial and Work Life Benefits. The Benefits team is a small but powerful team within the Human Resources function, and our job is to ensure that associate benefit offerings are delivering value to our associates, their families and Fidelity. We listen to associate feedback, benchmark the competition, and then measure every one of the 50 plus programs for which we are responsible.

Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model

Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
