Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Director, Technical Program Management (EPTech) to lead strategy and execution of large-scale, cross-functional programs aligned with business priorities. You will break down complexity, influence roadmaps, dive into system design, and resolve hard technical dependencies.

You will build and guide a team of TPMs, drive platform consolidation, and collaborate across product, engineering, design, and data science to deliver impactful outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (required).
• 7+ years managing technical programs.
• Bachelor's in CS/Software Eng; MBA preferred.
• 7+ years designing data-intensive solutions.
• 3+ years building distributed systems on AWS.
• 3+ years delivering large cross-functional programs.
• 3+ years in regulated environments.

Overview

Director, Technical Program Management (EPTech). You will lead the strategy and execution of large-scale, technically complex, cross-functional programs aligned with business priorities. You will break down complexity and organizational silos, influence roadmaps, dive deep into system design and architecture, make technical tradeoffs, drive platform consolidation, and identify, resolve, define, and escalate mitigation plans for hard technical dependencies.

Responsibilities

• Drive strategy and execution of large-scale, cross-functional programs across product, engineering, design, and data science representatives.
• Break down complexity and remove silos to enable delivery and alignment with business priorities.
• Influence roadmaps, assess and trade off technical decisions, and drive platform consolidation where appropriate.
• Identify, resolve, define, and escalate mitigation plans for hard technical dependencies.
• Lead and develop a team of TPMs, building foundations for the TPM practice and fostering a culture of accountability and results.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor\'s degree
• At least 7 years of experience managing technical programs

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor\'s degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering)
• MBA or Master’s Degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering) or equivalent experience
• 7+ years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing
• 3+ years of experience in building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services/architecture (preferably AWS)
• 3+ years experience building highly scalable mobile products & platforms
• 3+ years of experience with Agile delivery
• 3+ years of experience delivering large and complex programs with cross-functional teams and defined business/technical vision
• 3+ years of experience in building systems & solutions within a highly regulated environment
