Job summary

Forvis Mazars LLC in the United States seeks a Director for the Tax M&A practice focused on partnership transactions and federal income tax matters. You will guide structuring, modeling, and practical solutions across transactions, leading multi-disciplinary teams and growing client relationships.

You should bring 8–12+ years of tax experience with M&A and partnership taxation, CPA or Bar admission, and a track record of leadership and clear communication in complex engagements.

Qualifications

• 8-12+ years of progressive tax experience with significant M&A exposure and substantial partnership tax experience (Big Four or large regional preferred).
• CPA or active Bar admission.
• Strong background in partnership and pass-through taxation in transactional settings; C-corporations experience helpful.
• Excellent tax research, technical writing, and issue spotting skills.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing teams and client engagements.

Responsibilities

• Lead partnership transaction structuring and modeling, including analyses of basis step-ups.
• 704 allocations, disguised sale considerations, debt allocations, and related transactional issues.
• Deliver post close planning and transitional services.
• Analyze complex federal tax issues affecting partnerships and other pass-through entities and document conclusions.
• Oversee multi disciplinary teams across multiple transactions to deliver high quality, timely work.
• Advise senior client stakeholders on partnership-driven transaction issues with commercially focused, risk-balanced recommendations.
• Own engagement economics, including scope, staffing, budgets, billing, and collections.
• Coach and develop high performing teams, emphasizing technical excellence and client communication.
• Build and deepen client relationships, support business development and proposals.
• Contribute to practice growth and thought leadership (articles, alerts, webinars, conferences, and other market-facing content).
