Job summary

North Wind is seeking a Director of Supply Chain in Minnesota to develop and execute enterprise supply chain strategies for commercial and U.S. Government programs.

You will collaborate with executive leadership, Program Management, Engineering, Operations, Finance, Contracts, and Quality to embed supply chain requirements into planning and execution. The role requires 10+ years in supply chain, leadership of large teams, and experience with complex programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years in supply chain management or related field, preferably in an aerospace organization.
• Demonstrated leadership of teams, programs or a significant function.
• Experience developing and executing strategies for complex programs or operations.
• Familiarity with U.S. Government contracts in a FAR/DFARS-regulated environments a plus.

Position Summary:

The Director Supply Chain develops and executes enterprise supply chain strategies supporting North Wind's commercial and U.S. Government programs, ensuring alignment with program requirements, financial objectives, quality standards, contractual obligations, and applicable regulations. Partnering with executive leadership, Program Management, Engineering, Operations, Finance, Contracts, and Quality, the Director embeds supply chain requirements into business planning and program execution. identifying and mitigating risk, optimizing cost and schedule, strengthening supplier relationships, and ensuring the materials, services, and supplier capacity needed to meet current and future business demands.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategy & Business Acquisition: Develop and execute the enterprise supply chain strategy in line with organizational objectives and anticipated growth. Lead supply chain activities across all phases of the Business Acquisition Process: proposal development, sourcing strategy, material estimates, supplier engagement, and make/buy analysis, ensuring plans include integrated schedules, budgets, procurement strategies, resources, and identified risks and opportunities before execution.
• Execution & Performance: Lead supply chain execution across programs and operations, with accountability for material planning, procurement, inventory, forecasting, material cost, and schedule and supplier performance. Establish the metrics and processes that monitor effectiveness and drive continuous improvement in cost, quality, delivery, and supplier performance.
• Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with Program Management and functional leaders to evaluate supply chain impact on program cost, schedule, and technical requirements. Communicate significant risks, opportunities, and performance trends to senior leadership with integrated mitigation and corrective-action plans, ensuring strategies and deliverables meet customer and contractual requirements.
• Procurement, Supplier & Logistics Oversight: Provide strategic oversight of procurement, supplier relationships, logistics, inventory, warehousing, and shipping and receiving. Develop sourcing strategies that support business continuity, competitive pricing, quality, and delivery; oversee logistics and freight strategy and monitor freight cost and performance.
• Compliance & Continuous Improvement: Ensure supply chain activities comply with North Wind policies, quality requirements, contractual obligations, and applicable FAR/DFARS requirements. Lead risk and opportunity management, supplier performance improvement, process standardization, and continuous improvement.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years in supply chain management or related field, preferably in an aerospace organization.
• Demonstrated leadership of teams, programs or a significant function.
• Experience developing and executing strategies for complex programs or operations.
• Familiarity with U.S. Government contracts in a FAR/DFARS-regulated environments a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Working knowledge of procurement, strategic sourcing, product lifecycle, supplier identification, logistics, and supplier management.
• Experience across proposal development, material estimating, sourcing strategies, and new business acquisition.
• Ability to manage supplier performance, cost, schedule, risk, and contractual requirements.
• Able to analyze supply chain performance and translate data into actionable business recommendations.
• Adept at leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders across all levels of an organization.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills, including briefing leadership and customers.
• Strong business and financial acumen — material cost, forecasting, budgets, and program performance.
• Effective in a fast-paced, project-oriented environment while managing multiple priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and ERP/MRP systems; Costpoint experience preferred.
