Veeco Instruments Inc. is seeking a Director of Supply Chain to lead end-to-end supply chain and operations for capital equipment manufacturing across global sites.

You will drive obsolescence management, policy development, and supplier onboarding to support growth and operational excellence. The role requires a Bachelor’s in SCM/Engineering (MBA preferred), 10+ years of leadership experience, and strong ERP/SAP and Ariba proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in SCM/Engineering; MBA preferred.
• 10+ years of supply chain leadership in capital equipment or complex manufacturing.
• Expertise in obsolescence management, supplier development, and process optimization.
• Strong knowledge of ERP systems (SAP) and supplier collaboration platforms (Ariba).
• 5+ years of people management experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee global supply chain and operations for capital equipment manufacturing.
• Develop commodity strategies to scale operations in US and Asia.
• Identify and mitigate obsolescence risks with engineering and supply chain teams.
• Lead lean initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Define and enforce supply chain policies; ensure ISO 9001 compliance.
• Design training programs for supply chain staff and promote continuous learning.
• Lead supplier qualification, onboarding, and risk assessment.

Overview

Lead end-to-end supply chain and operations support functions to ensure continuity, efficiency, and compliance. Drive strategic initiatives in obsolescence management, process improvement, policy development, training, and supplier onboarding to support business growth and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Supply Chain Leadership

• Oversee Supply Chain and Operations business processes for capital equipment manufacturing across all global sites.
• Ensure alignment with corporate objectives and customer requirements.
• Develop commodity strategies that will enable Veeco to scale its operations across US and Asia.

Obsolescence Management

• Develop and maintain processes for identifying and mitigating risks related to obsolete parts and materials.
• Collaborate with engineering and supply chain managers to source replacements and manage lifecycle transitions.

Business Process Improvement

• Analyze current workflows and implement lean practices to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
• Establish KPIs and metrics for continuous improvement across supply chain operations.
• Partner with IT to Develop automation solutions.

Policy Creation & Compliance

• Define and enforce supply chain policies covering sourcing, quality, and supplier performance.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and industry standards.

Training & Development

• Design and deliver training programs for supply chain staff on best practices, tools, and compliance requirements.
• Promote a culture of continuous learning and operational excellence.

Supplier Onboarding & Management

• Lead supplier qualification and onboarding processes, including risk assessment and change management.
• Build strategic supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost, and delivery performance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field (MBA preferred) and 10+ years of experience in supply chain leadership within capital equipment or complex manufacturing is required. Expertise in obsolescence management, supplier development, and process optimization along with a strong knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferred) and supplier collaboration platforms (e.g., Ariba) is also required as is 5+ years of experience managing people.

Salary and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $156,000-$198,000, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
