Position Summary

The Director Supplemental Health Pricing will lead the pricing team; responsible for the Supplemental Health product pillar (Critical Illness, Cancer, Personal Accident and Hospital Indemnity). The team provides actuarial and financial analysis in support of a business with strong growth objectives.

The role reports to the AVP, Group Pricing within the U.S. Employee Benefits division. The larger Group Pricing team is also responsible for Life & Disability products. The role works closely with other functional teams, including Product, Underwriting, Distribution, Claims and Finance, as well as peers on the Group Pricing and Dental/Vision teams.

How you will contribute:

Planning, directing and managing Life & Disability product pricing to support meeting Employee Benefits profit and growth objectives.

Pricing:
  • Plan and direct product pricing for Supplemental Health products.
  • Keep pricing responsive to market trends and actively engage product management to keep products competitively positioned in the market.
  • Direct regular experience studies to update manual rates and other pricing formulas.
  • Develop and monitor new business and renewal pricing programs.
  • Support new product initiatives, including product development, pricing and governance.
Profitability Management:
  • Evaluate and report product financial performance, communicating to senior management and other functional areas.
  • Develop data, metrics and processes to improve financial management of the products.
  • Provide analysis to develop a deep understanding of macro and micro drivers impacting financial results.
  • Monitor market and economic conditions to allow identification of issues/risks on a timely basis. Enable management to react proactively to keep products competitively positioned in the market.
  • Provide input to Business and Strategic Plan forecasts.
Leadership & Collaboration:
  • Provide actuarial and financial support to the Group Benefits organization.
  • Collaborate with Product, Underwriting, Finance, Valuation and other teams to set strategic direction.
  • Recruit and develop a high-performance team, providing leadership and coaching to prepare staff for future advancement.
What you will bring with you:
  • FSA and/or FCIA with 8+ years of relevant work experience, including pricing or related work for Supplemental Health products. Active membership in American Academy of Actuaries.
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or another field requiring rigorous mathematical analysis.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Intellectually curious and driven to understand underlying factors impacting results.
  • Ability to apply advanced financial concepts and capabilities across business processes.

The salary range for this role is $153,400 - $230,100. At our company, we are committed to pay transparency and equity.
