Qualifications

• 10+ years of strategic sourcing/procurement experience in medical devices or highly regulated manufacturing.
• Experience managing electronics-related direct material categories.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic sourcing and category strategies across electronics components and related direct materials for surgical medical devices.
• Lead strategic supplier negotiations, commercial agreements, pricing, and contract coverage.
• Build and manage relationships with critical electronics and technology suppliers.
• Drive supplier performance through QBRs, KPIs, cost, quality, delivery, and continuity initiatives.
• Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, MS&T, Finance, and Supply Chain.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction, supplier consolidation, dual sourcing, and risk management.
• Build, coach, and lead a procurement team focused on accountability and continuous improvement.
• Own site-level procurement budgeting and spend variance analysis.

Director, Strategic Sourcing – Electronics

Penta Search Group has partnered with a global medical device organization to identify a Director of Strategic Sourcing who will lead procurement and supplier strategy supporting its surgical medical device business.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an accomplished sourcing professional with deep expertise across electronics and electromechanical categories who can build category strategies, strengthen critical supplier partnerships, and ensure continuity of supply within a highly regulated manufacturing environment.

The Opportunity

The Director will serve as the primary procurement leader supporting a key manufacturing site, leading strategic sourcing activities and developing a high-performing procurement team. The position will have significant responsibility for supplier performance, sourcing strategy, business continuity, commercial agreements, and site-level procurement performance.

Key responsibilities include:

• Develop and execute strategic sourcing and category strategies across electronics, electronic components, and related direct materials supporting surgical medical devices
• Lead strategic supplier negotiations, commercial agreements, pricing, and contract coverage
• Build and manage relationships with critical electronics and technology suppliers
• Drive supplier performance through structured QBRs, KPIs, cost, quality, delivery, and continuity initiatives
• Partner closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, MS&T, Finance, and Supply Chain
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction, supplier consolidation, dual sourcing, and supply-risk mitigation
• Build, coach, and lead a high-performing procurement team while creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
• Own site-level procurement budgeting and spend variance analysis

Ideal Background

We are particularly interested in candidates with 10+ years of strategic sourcing/procurement experience and a strong track record managing electronics-related direct material categories within Medical Devices, Life Sciences, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.

Experience sourcing categories such as electronic components, PCBAs, semiconductors, sensors, displays, power supplies, cables/connectors, or electromechanical assemblies would be highly relevant.

Candidates should bring demonstrated people leadership, category strategy, complex negotiations, supplier relationship management, and supply continuity/risk management experience.
