One of our companies is currently looking for a Director, Sponsored Programs in the United States.

We are looking for an experienced and strategic leader to oversee and expand the sponsored programs operations for a growing academic institution. In this fully remote role, the Director will be responsible for driving the university's grants portfolio, ensuring compliance, and developing sustainable funding models that align with long-term institutional goals. The ideal candidate will be a visionary with expertise in grants management, compliance, and team leadership—able to collaborate across departments, identify high-impact funding opportunities, and position the institution as a competitive force in external funding.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive grant strategy aligned with institutional goals.
  • Lead identification, pursuit, and acquisition of funding from government agencies, foundations, and other sponsors.
  • Oversee compliance with all federal, state, and institutional funding regulations and policies.
  • Provide training and support to faculty and staff on proposal writing, submission, and award management.
  • Supervise and mentor the Sponsored Programs team, establishing performance goals and development plans.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support interdisciplinary research initiatives and funding partnerships.
  • Manage budget planning, operational efficiency, and continuous process improvement across all sponsored programs activities.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Public Administration, Research Administration, or Higher Education Leadership preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in research administration, grant development, or sponsored programs in a higher education or nonprofit setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state grant regulations (e.g., NIH, NSF, DOE).
  • Strong grant writing, project management, and budgeting skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams and mentor staff.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office and grant management systems.
  • Experience in contract negotiation and compliance oversight is a plus.
  • Comfortable working across time zones and open to occasional domestic travel.
  • Base salary of $105,000–$115,000 per year
