ExoTerra Resource LLC in Colorado is seeking a Director, Spacecraft Systems Engineering to lead the engineering division as Technical Authority. You will set technical standards, ensure designs meet requirements, and grow a team of functional managers who deliver.

You will represent engineering to customers, present complex technical information, and ensure deliverables meet both company and customer expectations.

Formación

• 15+ years of aerospace engineering experience, including spacecraft systems engineering.
• Experience leading and managing technical teams.
• Proven experience with systems engineering and requirements verification.
• Experience performing trade studies across multiple systems.
• Experience developing and verifying requirements and risk management.
• Experience with customer presentations and relationships.

The Role

As Director, Spacecraft Systems Engineering, you will lead ExoTerra’s engineering division and serve as its Technical Authority. You will set and uphold technical standards, make sure designs meet requirements, and build a team of functional managers who deliver. You will also be the technical face of ExoTerra to customers. You report to the General Manager.

What You’ll Do

Own technical quality

• Act as Technical Authority for the division, reviewing designs and maintaining technical standards
• Ensure technical processes are followed and designs meet requirements
• Chair the Engineering Review Board and the Risk Review Board, and serve as a voting member of the Failure Review Board

Lead the engineering organization

• Manage the functional managers on your staff: hire them, set expectations, conduct annual reviews, approve timesheets, and make raise, promotion, and disciplinary recommendations to HR
• Translate company priorities into clear direction for your teams
• Report team status and performance metrics to the General Manager regularly

Represent engineering to customers

• Present technical information and build strong customer relationships
• Ensure customer-deliverable technical documents meet both company and customer standards

What You Bring

Required

• 15+ years of aerospace engineering experience, including spacecraft systems engineering with knowledge of propulsion, power electronics, control systems, and structural design
• Experience managing technical teams
• Experience with systems engineering and systems processes
• Experience conducting trade studies across multiple systems
• Experience developing, maintaining, and verifying requirements
• Experience with risk management
• Experience with customer presentations and relationships
• Strong people-management skills and a process-driven approach to organizing diverse efforts

Preferred

• Electric propulsion, power electronics, or mechanical engineering experience
