Director, Solutions Engineering, East (Remote, East Coast)

United States (Remote)

As the Director, Solutions Engineering, East for Grafana Labs, you will be responsible for building and managing a team of high-performing Solution Engineers. You will embody the organization’s culture and promote strong partnership and collaboration across AE and SE roles. Your goal is to grow the East SE organization to 25+ SEs and prepare for scaling across multiple products, industries, segments, and GTM motions.

Working alongside 2 Sales VPs, 8 Sales RDs, 3 SE Managers, 45+ AEs, and 20+ SEs, you will help develop processes, playbooks, job architectures, enablement programs, and other initiatives to achieve scale and increase win rates. You are expected to be a thought leader, both internally and externally, ensuring feedback from the field influences product and GTM strategies. A key trait for success is a willingness to get involved and drive opportunities with the VP of Sales.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Be a culture carrier who values teamwork over individual achievement and prioritizes finding the right answers.
2. Drive and advise on key opportunities in collaboration with the VP of Sales.
3. Foster strong cross-functional relationships and promote collaboration.
4. Show sensitivity and appreciation for open source initiatives and bottom-up motions.
5. Engage strategically with customers, demonstrating flexibility and openness to debate and alternative viewpoints.

Requirements:

1. Minimum of 2 years in second-line SE leadership roles.
2. Experience scaling teams to over 30 employees.
3. Proven success in fast-paced, high-growth startup environments.
4. Experience with open source, developer-centric GTM motions, or observability.
5. Extensive experience in complex enterprise sales.
6. Ideally located in NYC, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., or Atlanta.

The US OTE compensation range for this role is $280,000 - $345,000, with actual compensation varying based on experience and skills. Benefits include equity, bonuses, and other listed perks.
