As a Capital One Director of Software Engineering, you'll work on customer-facing web and mobile applications, microservices, back-end Java systems, and Machine Learning models using Big Data techniques. You should have experience with technologies such as: node.js, Java, GO, AngularJS, React, Python, REST, JSON, XML, Ruby, Perl, NoSQL, relational databases, Spark, Artifactory, Maven, iOS, Android, and AWS/Cloud Infrastructure.

We seek a Director focused on operational excellence to ensure system reliability, availability, scalability, and efficiency, with a strong background in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and best practices in high-growth environments.

You will:

• Lead and grow multiple SRE-focused engineering teams.
• Mentor engineers' professional and technical development.
• Collaborate with product managers to understand application capabilities and testing scenarios.
• Improve software engineering practices continuously.
• Design, develop, test, and support full-stack solutions within Agile teams.
• Oversee development of tools and frameworks for observability, reliability, and sustainability.
• Ensure solutions are crafted for availability, resilience, and scalability.
• Stay updated on tech trends, experiment with new technologies, and mentor others.
• Promote innovation, inclusion, teamwork, and diversity.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• At least 7 years of software development experience.
• At least 5 years of people management experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• 10+ years of software development experience.
• 5+ years practicing Agile methodologies.
• 3+ years of experience with AWS.
