Job summary

Merck is seeking a Director of Chemical Engineering R&D to oversee a portfolio in small molecule process development, scale-up, and technology transfer. Lead a team of ~15, drive cross-functional collaboration with Process Chemistry and Manufacturing, and guide regulatory submissions with a focus on safety, quality and innovation.

You will shape strategy, optimize resources, and influence LOS and IDSP plans while advancing discovery-to-delivery pipelines in a global setting.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of pharmaceutical process development experience with a proven track record in small molecule commercial process development, scale-up, and technology transfer to manufacturing
• Experience with authoring regulatory submissions and responding to regulatory questions
• Demonstrated ability in leading cross-functional groups
• Track record and commitment to employee development/retention
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
• Strength in delivering results on firm deadlines
• Demonstrated ability in selection and prioritization of a portfolio of projects

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and strategic oversight of chemical engineering staff
• Prioritize resource allocation and drive development, characterization and scale-up of unit operations for manufacturing
• Contribute to regulatory filings and technology transfer documents while ensuring safety, quality and compliance
