Apartment Therapy was launched in 2001 by interior designer Maxwell Ryan, known as "The Apartment Therapist," as a weekly newsletter for clients. It became an independent company in 2004 and has since grown into the only media group dedicated to life at home, with brands like Apartment Therapy, The Kitchn, Cubby, and Dorm Therapy. Our platforms reach 47 million users monthly, and our team of over 140 professionals works from New York City and globally.

We are seeking a full-time Director, Shopping Strategy to join our team, reporting directly to the President.

The Director, Shopping Strategy will develop and execute strategies to maximize affiliate and commerce revenue across our brands. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, collaborative, creative, data-driven, and knowledgeable about the affiliate revenue landscape. A positive attitude and team spirit are essential.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Oversee daily operations of the Shopping Strategy, managing affiliate networks, partners, and paid media opportunities.
  2. Forecast, measure, and report on revenue goals, performance, and profitability.
  3. Grow paid media revenue through strategic partnerships and collaborate with the Director of Revenue Intelligence.
  4. Partner with Sales on client proposals, oversee campaign execution, and analyze KPIs.
  5. Work with Marketing and Growth teams to expand commerce and cross-department campaigns.
  6. Collaborate with the Product Team on tools and reporting for affiliate content performance.
  7. Research and develop new revenue streams to scale the business.
  8. Optimize monetization of editorial programs and identify process improvements.
  9. Lead retailer and tentpole strategies for major shopping events.
  10. Represent Apartment Therapy Media at affiliate marketing events, fostering partnerships and new opportunities.
  11. Stay informed on industry trends and the evolving commerce landscape.

Experience & Qualifications

  1. 7-10 years in e-commerce and shopping strategy.
  2. Experience at a consumer publisher is preferred.
  3. Knowledge of paid media trends and best practices.
  4. Proven success in partnership development and achieving KPIs & ROAS goals.
  5. Excellent communication skills, capable of working with executives and teams.
  6. Self-starter, team player, and collaborator.
  7. Experience with platforms like Google Workspace, Google Analytics, Trackonomics, Commission Junction, Impact Radius, and Amazon Associates.

The annual salary range for this role is $135,000 - $155,000, including salary and performance-based commission. Compensation depends on experience and other factors.
