About the Job
We are seeking an experienced Value and Access Director/Senior Director to actively develop market access and value communication deliverables across our client portfolio while maintaining client relationships. This role is ideal for a seasoned market access professional who combines strong client leadership with hands-on content development experience and broad knowledge of access strategy, value communication, payer marketing and reimbursement.
The Value and Access Director/Senior Director will contribute to new business development opportunities, lead projects and serve as the day-to-day owner of client relationships and deliverables. The successful candidate will translate client objectives and complex evidence into high-quality materials for payer, field, and other targeted client audiences. This person will personally drive priority deliverables from project scope through final content while guiding contributors and maintaining alignment with scope, timing, and client expectations. The Value and Access Director/ Senior Director will lead projects such as landscape assessments, value propositions, formulary materials, and patient support resources to help U.S. healthcare stakeholders understand access dynamics, payer behavior, reimbursement landscapes, and strategic opportunities.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys doing the work as well as leading it. The Value and Access Director/Senior Director will write, edit, and shape content directly; provide clear direction and feedback to team members; and help move multiple deliverables forward in a fast-paced client environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary day-to-day client contact across assigned accounts, building trusted relationships with colleagues across the organization.
- Lead client meetings, workshops, and drive alignment across client stakeholders with competing priorities.
- Own and actively develop market access materials from content strategy and outline through drafting, review, revision, and finalization. Deliverables may include payer value propositions and presentations, evidence summaries, objection handlers, payer leave-behinds, field resources, and other access-focused communications.
- Develop clear value stories and message frameworks that connect product evidence, unmet need, economic considerations, and access implications, tailoring the depth and language to payer, field, and client audiences.
- Serve as a senior content reviewer and editor for team-developed materials, strengthening the storyline, clarity, accuracy, referencing, and audience relevance. Partner with appropriate medical, legal, and regulatory reviewers to support evidence integrity and compliance with applicable standards.
- Provide practical guidance and coaching to content developers, including direction on outlines, source use, message development, referencing, and incorporation of client and review-team feedback.
- Manage and develop junior and mid-level team members through day-to-day collaboration, timely feedback, and coaching tied to active client work.
- Contribute to business development through capabilities calls, proposal and RFP development, pitch presentations, and account planning.
- Partner with agency and consulting counterparts, including creative, medical, and media partners, to deliver integrated client solutions.
Requirements
Experience
- Bachelor's degree required; an advanced degree in business, public health, health policy, health administration, life sciences, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- 8+ years of relevant experience for Director level; 10+ years preferred for Senior Director level.
- Substantive experience in pharmaceutical market access, with particular strength in payer marketing, value communication, access strategy, or related content development.
- Demonstrated product launch experience, with direct involvement in access planning, payer readiness, and launch execution.
- Proven client management track record, including ownership of day-to-day relationships, senior stakeholder engagement, and the ability to translate feedback into clear content direction and action.
- Strong understanding of the U.S. payer landscape, including commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid channels, PBMs, formulary and coverage decision-making, utilization management, specialty distribution, and site-of-care dynamics.
- Demonstrated experience directly managing, coaching, and developing junior team members.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to lead executive-level presentations and client discussions.
- Comfort operating with ambiguity and shifting priorities in a fast-paced, client-driven environment.
Preferred Experience
- Combination of market access agency or strategic consultancy experience and in-house pharmaceutical or biotechnology or payer experience.
- Experience in a payer marketing or access marketing role within a payer or manufacturer organization.
- Experience with agency-of-record relationships, multi-year account planning, or portfolio-level client management.
- Working knowledge of reimbursement, clinical evidence, HEOR, real-world evidence, and evidence planning sufficient to develop and quality-assure market access content; deep clinical specialization is not required.
- Track record of account growth and business development contribution.
