This Strategic Business Development Executive will be responsible for selling complex Contract Product Development and Electronic Manufacturing Services to MedTech OEM’s.

This role reports to the Vice President, MedTech Partnering. This is a remote position which includes travel and has a preferred home base in the greater Boston, MA area or the Northeastern US.

SUMMARY:

  • Responsible for identifying and securing revenue in support of Tecan’s sales growth and financial objectives.
  • Build a business development pipeline and devise customer strategies, plans and solutions to wins profitable contract product development and electronic manufacturing services opportunities by engaging consultatively with prospective and current customers
  • Lead and navigate through the complex MedTech sales process and build executive relationships with external customers and within Tecan to increase the probability of winning new business opportunities
  • Incorporates Tecan Visions and Values in business activities
  • Work collaboratively with Tecan CDMO’s Engineering, Operations leadership, and other relevant Tecan cross-functional teams, to assemble and propose product development and electronic manufacturing solutions that win new business opportunities.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Proactively seeks new MedTech customers and qualify profitable business opportunities with MedTech OEM companies that align with the Tecan’s MedTech Partnering strategy.
  • Build and expand on external customer relationships and within Tecan
  • Leverage networking contacts, professional affiliations, and industry groups in support new business development efforts
  • Prospect and cold call onto new customers
  • Present Tecan’s services solutions and value proposition to customers during the sales cycle
  • Create and present contract product development and electronic manufacturing services proposals to customers and prospects
  • Identify and qualify all opportunities during the sales process
  • Create and execute the sales strategy, plan and process, including coordination of all necessary internal and external resources to best position Tecan to secure business
  • Work closely with marketing to help develop and refine effective, targeted go-to-market plans
  • Responsible for regular conference calls and meetings with prospective clients and Tecan cross-functional teams
  • Build relationships within industry contacts to build the sales funnel
  • Participate in sales, marketing and product strategy meetings on a regular basis to ensure we remain on target to achieve predetermined goals.
  • Direct involvement in marketing activities, including but not limited to national trade shows, local shows, collaborations with partner companies, etc.

TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Skills:

  • Demonstrated sales hunter mentality to find new customers or expand current customers that fit the Tecan MedTech Partnering strategy
  • Knowledge of the complex sales cycle, including the development, management, and execution of business development planning, lead generation, pipeline management, account planning, and strategic sales strategy
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work independently
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate at executive levels (orally and written) both technical and non-technical topics
  • Strong presentation skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • A strategic consultative business development executive who possesses a consistent and demonstrable track record of selling and winning complex contract product development and electronic manufacturing opportunities
  • Demonstrable background in developing and closing significant new name clients in his/her/their career, with expertise in in contract development and manufacturing
  • Broad industry knowledge within MedTech with an extensive professional network
  • Familiarity with strategic consultative selling, contract product development and electronic manufacturing
  • Experience in establishing budgets, planning, forecasting sales is desired but not required

Education/Experience Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or equivalent. MBA is a plus
  • 8+ years of previous related experience, including services-based Sales, Sales Management and/or Product Management in MedTech contract product development and electronic manufacturing services or consultative selling.

  • Base Salary $175,000 ( plus uncapped commission)
