Description du poste

Director Semiconductor Business Development & Product Management

Location: Charlotte Office

At Sibelco, we advance life through materials. For over 150 years, we’ve been a trusted leader in sourcing, transforming, and distributing specialty industrial minerals. Beyond our materials, we’re proud of our commitment to sustainability, innovation, and empowering people from all walks of life to thrive and make a meaningful impact.

Job Description

Role purpose Identify, shape and commercialise future HPQ growth opportunities across semiconductor and selected adjacent applications. The role owns the strategic opportunity portfolio from market insight through customer validation and commercial scale-up, while connecting customer, application, T&I, operations and strategic-account perspectives into a coherent product and market roadmap.

Key accountabilities
Market strategy and opportunity identification
  • Develop granular market, application and customer segmentation across crucibles, fused-quartz consumables, clean thermal quartzware, advanced packaging and selected adjacent applications.
  • Identify share-gain, competitive-displacement, new-customer, new-qualification and new-product opportunities with clear strategic rationale.
  • Translate semiconductor trends including AI infrastructure, advanced memory, HBM, smaller nodes and process-step intensity into implications for HPQ demand and specifications.
  • Maintain explicit defend, accelerate, selective-growth and explore priorities, including clear no-go areas where HPQ lacks a sustainable advantage.
Growth portfolio and pipeline management
  • Own an integrated opportunity portfolio covering near-term business development, medium-term new product development and long-term future platforms.
  • Establish quantified business cases with target customers, volume, revenue, margin, investment, probability, qualification path, risks and decision gates.
  • Run stage-gate reviews and recommend resource allocation, acceleration, redesign or termination based on evidence.
  • Ensure opportunities move from strategic concept to accountable owner, customer validation, qualification and commercialisation.
Ecosystem and partnership development
  • Build relationships across equipment OEMs, quartz fabricators, wafer and crucible producers, foundries, memory manufacturers, research institutes and industry consortia.
  • Create joint-development, validation and technology-access partnerships where external capabilities accelerate market entry.
  • Coordinate senior-level engagement with strategic ecosystem participants and convert discussions into defined work programmes.
  • Use ecosystem insight to anticipate specification shifts, qualification requirements, substitution risks and emerging applications.
Product and portfolio management
  • Own the semiconductor product and application roadmap jointly with Application Engineering and T&I.
  • Define customer need, target application, value proposition, technical requirements, launch criteria and commercial positioning for new grades.
  • Prioritise product-development resources against strategic attractiveness, technical feasibility, customer pull and expected value creation.
  • Recommend portfolio simplification, product repositioning or sunset decisions where complexity does not create customer or financial value.
Commercialisation and strategic decision support
  • Develop go-to-market plans, target-account logic, pricing architecture, qualification strategy and launch governance for new offerings.
  • Partner with Strategic Account Sales on initial customer engagement and transfer mature opportunities with clear ownership and success criteria.
  • Produce Board and ExCo-ready market, competitor, portfolio and investment analyses.
  • Provide structured intelligence on competitors, alternative materials, regional dynamics, customer expansions and technology-roadmap changes.
Experience and qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Business or a related discipline.
  • MBA or equivalent strategic-commercial experience is advantageous.
Professional experience
  • Typically 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in semiconductor materials, semiconductor equipment, quartzware, specialty materials or another technically demanding B2B value chain.
  • Proven track record in business development, product management, strategic marketing or technical-commercial leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to create new growth opportunities, build investment cases, manage a portfolio and move opportunities through qualification to revenue.
  • Experience engaging customers and partners across multiple levels, from engineering and procurement to senior executives.
  • Strong understanding of long qualification cycles, specification ownership, ecosystem dependencies and switching barriers.
Preferred industry backgrounds
  • Semiconductor equipment, materials, components, wafer, quartzware or high-purity specialty-material sectors.
  • Roles combining technical market knowledge with commercial ownership, rather than generalist sales alone.
  • Experience operating across Asia, Europe and North America is strongly preferred.
