Job summary

Illinois Education Job Bank is seeking a Director of Secondary Education for a district in Illinois. The role reports to the Deputy Superintendent and oversees curriculum, instruction, and assessment for secondary programs, including work-based learning and the mentoring of beginning teachers.

The 10-month position requires an Illinois Administrative Endorsement and experience in secondary school administration.

Qualifications

• The Director of Secondary Education shall hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator License with an Administrative Endorsement.
• Preferred candidate will have some level of secondary building administrative experience.
• Candidate should work collaboratively with District staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development, implementation, coordination, evaluation and assessment of secondary programs, including work-based learning.
• Assist in development and periodic review of instructional materials, textbooks, equipment, and digital resources.
• Coordinate professional growth for certificated staff, including mentoring and induction for beginning teachers.
• Support data collection and district/secondary improvement plans, and coordinate testing and assessment programs.
• Oversee state program applications, implementations and evaluations within the district's education programs.
• Assist with reporting to parents on students' educational progress.
• Assist with staff hiring, placement, transfer, promotion and dismissal decisions.
• Coordinate MTSS programming and professional development.
• Coordinate gifted/enrichment and secondary alternative education programs.
• Coordinate student teacher placements and summer school programming.
