Overview

The Director, Scientific Publications, will serve as a key individual contributor and cross-functional scientific leader within Medical Affairs responsible for the development and execution of strategic publication activities supporting Celldex’s immunology portfolio. This individual will partner cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Clinical Science, HEOR, Biostatistics, Regulatory, Commercial, and external scientific experts to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality, scientifically rigorous, and compliant publications and scientific content.

This role will lead publication planning and execution across Celldex’s clinical programs, including manuscripts, abstracts, posters, oral presentations, and congress-related scientific content supporting late-stage development and future commercialization activities. The individual will work closely with the Director, Scientific Communications to ensure alignment between publication strategy, scientific messaging, congress activities, and broader Medical Affairs communication initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong scientific acumen, end-to-end publication expertise, strong cross-functional leadership with ability to drive alignment, and the ability to translate complex clinical and scientific data into impactful scientific publications and medical content.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and execution of strategic & tactical publication plans aligned with Medical Affairs & Evidence Generation and clinical development objectives
  • Drive publication activities including manuscripts, abstracts, posters, oral presentations, and congress-related scientific content
  • Partner cross-functionally within Medical Affairs & Evidence Generation (including HEOR), Clinical Development, Clinical Science, Biostatistics, Regulatory, Legal, Compliance, and Commercial teams to ensure scientific accuracy, consistency, and alignment of messaging
  • Collaborate with external authors, investigators, key opinion leaders, and scientific communication agencies to identify new publications concepts and support publication development and dissemination
  • Partner closely with the Director, Scientific Communications to ensure alignment across publication strategy, scientific messaging, congress activities, and broader scientific communications initiatives
  • Manage publication timelines, deliverables, vendors, and associated budgets to ensure high-quality and timely execution
  • Provide scientific review and editorial oversight of publication content to ensure scientific accuracy, quality, consistency, and compliance with internal standards and external guidelines
  • Lead publication planning meetings, semi-annual company-wide publication planning workshops, and manage cross-functional publication reviews to ensure alignment across stakeholders
  • Support congress planning and execution, including publication strategy, scientific communications, and related medical communications deliverables
  • Contribute to scientific platform development and core scientific narratives supporting Celldex products and pipeline programs
  • Maintain awareness of emerging clinical data, scientific literature, competitive intelligence, and industry trends within immunology, allergy, inflammation, and related therapeutic areas
  • Ensure compliance with ICMJE, AMA, GPP, FDA, and applicable industry standards and company SOPs
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to publication processes, systems, and operational workflows
  • May manage external publication vendors, agencies, consultants, and/or scientific communications partners
Qualifications
  • Advanced scientific or healthcare degree required (PhD, PharmD, MD, MS, MPH, or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 8+ years of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, Medical Affairs, or scientific publications experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years supporting publication planning and scientific publication development within a biotech or pharmaceutical environment
  • Experience supporting global publication planning and execution for both clinical-stage and commercial-stage products preferred
  • Immunology, allergy, inflammation, dermatology, or related therapeutic area experience strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting scientific congresses and publication activities preferred
  • Experience working with publication management systems, scientific communication agencies, and external publication vendors preferred
  • Strong expertise in scientific publications, publication planning, and medical writing within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex clinical and scientific data to diverse audiences
  • Strong understanding of publication guidelines and standards, including ICMJE, AMA, GPP, FDA, and industry compliance requirements
  • Strong scientific and editorial review capabilities with exceptional attention to detail
  • Proven ability to manage multiple publication projects, timelines, and cross-functional stakeholders simultaneously
  • Strong project leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and external scientific collaborators
  • Experience managing vendors, agencies, timelines, and budgets
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced biotechnology environment
  • Travel Required – 20%
Compensation Statement

The expected base salary for this position is: $176659.00 to $229427.00. We are committed to compensating employees equitably based on several factors including experience, education, licensure/certifications, skill level, location of the position, and availability of similar talent in a competitive market.

Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary bonus, long term incentive, 401(K) plan with employer contribution, health care and other insurance benefits (for employee and family), paid holidays, vacation, and sick days.
