Overview

The Director, Scientific Communications will serve as a key scientific leader within Medical Affairs responsible for the development, oversight, and execution of scientific content supporting Celldex’s immunology portfolio. This individual will partner cross-functionally with Medical Affairs & Evidence Generation, Clinical Development, Clinical Science, HEOR, Biostatistics, Regulatory, Commercial, and external scientific experts to ensure the delivery of high-quality, scientifically rigorous, and compliant medical and scientific content across multiple channels and audiences. This role will lead scientific communication initiatives supporting Celldex’s clinical programs, including scientific platforms, congress materials, external scientific content (e.g., slide decks), internal training materials, medical information content, advisory board materials, FAQs, field medical resources, and related scientific communications. The individual will work closely with the Director, Scientific Publications to ensure alignment between broader scientific communications, publication strategy, and scientific communications. The ideal candidate will bring strong scientific acumen, medical writing expertise, and the ability to translate complex clinical and scientific data into clear, accurate, and impactful medical content as Celldex advances multiple late-stage immunology assets toward commercialization.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and execution of scientific communications and medical content strategies aligned with Medical Affairs & Evidence Generation and clinical development objectives
  • Serve as a scientific content lead supporting Medical Affairs & Evidence Generation initiatives across Celldex’s immunology portfolio
  • Develop, review, and oversee scientific materials including congress content, scientific platforms, slide decks, FAQs, training materials, medical information responses, advisory board content, and field medical tools
  • Partner cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Clinical Science, HEOR, Biostatistics, Regulatory, Legal, Compliance, and Commercial teams to ensure scientific accuracy, consistency, and alignment of messaging
  • Partner closely with the Director, Scientific Publications and Sr Dir Field Medical Training & Ops to ensure alignment across publications, scientific communications, and medical messaging strategies
  • Provide scientific review and editorial oversight of medical & commercial content to ensure accuracy, consistency, quality, and compliance with internal standards and external guidelines
  • Support congress planning and execution, including scientific communications, content development, and Medical Affairs and Evidence Generation deliverables
  • Contribute to medical strategy discussions by providing scientific insights, development of scientific communications strategic & tactical plan, and ensuring alignment of scientific communications with broader development and commercialization objectives
  • Develop and maintain scientific platforms and core scientific narratives supporting Celldex products and pipeline programs
  • Maintain awareness of emerging clinical data, scientific literature, competitive intelligence, and industry trends within immunology, allergy, inflammation, and related therapeutic areas
  • Ensure compliance with PhRMA FDA, and applicable industry standards and company SOPs
  • Manage scientific communication vendors, agencies, timelines, and associated budgets as needed
  • Support internal education and training initiatives through the development of scientific and medical education materials
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to scientific communications processes, systems, and operational workflows
Qualifications
  • Advanced scientific or healthcare degree required (PhD, PharmD, MD, MS, MPH, or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 8+ years of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, Medical Affairs, or scientific communications experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years supporting scientific communications, medical content development, or Medical Affairs initiatives
  • Experience supporting clinical-stage or commercial-stage products within biotech or pharmaceutical organizations
  • Immunology, allergy, inflammation, dermatology, or related therapeutic area experience required
  • Experience supporting scientific congresses, medical education initiatives, and field medical content development preferred
  • Experience working with medical communications agencies and external scientific vendors preferred
  • Strong scientific and medical writing expertise with the ability to translate complex scientific data into clear and impactful communications
  • Deep understanding of Medical Affairs and scientific communications within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
  • Ability to interpret and communicate clinical and scientific data to diverse audiences, including healthcare professionals, internal stakeholders, and scientific experts
  • Strong project leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Proven ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and external scientific collaborators
  • Strong knowledge of publication and compliance standards, including PhRMA, FDA, and industry regulations
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to scientific accuracy and quality
  • Experience managing vendors, agencies, timelines, and budgets
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced biotechnology environment
  • Travel Required – 20%
Compensation Statement

The expected base salary for this position is: $176659.00 to $229427.00. We are committed to compensating employees equitably based on several factors including experience, education, licensure/certifications, skill level, location of the position, and availability of similar talent in a competitive market. Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary bonus, long term incentive, 401(K) plan with employer contribution, health care and other insurance benefits (for employee and family), paid holidays, vacation, and sick days.
