Job summary

University of Nevada, Reno Libraries seeks an engaged, user-centered leader to manage the DeLaMare Science and Engineering Library (DLM) as a full-time tenure-track faculty position.

The Director will provide strategic direction for services, technologies, and spaces, supervise a team of four faculty, two staff, and about twenty student workers, and collaborate with campus partners to integrate library activities into curricula and support teaching and research in STEM disciplines.

Qualifications

• ALA-accredited MLIS or equivalent terminal degree.
• Five (5) years of professional library experience.
• Successful managerial experience (e.g., personnel supervision, major project management, facilities operations, or research management).

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction for all DLM services, technologies, collections, and spaces.
• Manage a team of four faculty, two staff, and ~20 student workers; coordinate daily operations.
• Assume administrative responsibility for the unit, including assessment of spaces and services.
• Represent DLM for development efforts in support of administrative goals.
• Partner with faculty and campus entities to meet teaching and research objectives, integrating library activities into the curriculum and supporting student engagement.
• Liaison for assigned STEM disciplines; provide research consultations, instruction, collections support, and scholarly communications support.
• Maintain familiarity with trends in research and teaching related to liaison areas, including AI literacy and evidence synthesis.
• Continue and develop user-centered services and integrate new methods and technologies.
• Collaborate and communicate with other library departments to meet university objectives and promote an inclusive work culture.
