Job summary

The DeKalb County School District seeks an experienced Director of School Nutrition Services to oversee district-wide nutrition operations and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The role spans budgeting, staffing, and program evaluation across cafeterias and satellite sites.

You will lead cross-functional teams, develop KPIs, and implement training programs for managers, while guiding new kitchen openings and equipment planning.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree is required.
• Minimum 10 years of director-level leadership experience in School Nutrition.
• Must hold or be eligible to obtain Georgia Certification S-5 as a School Nutrition Director.

Responsibilities

• Lead a comprehensive leadership and personnel program with HR, administrators, and stakeholders.
• Develop KPIs and strategies to ensure financial sustainability; manage labor and resources.
• Ensure compliance with all school lunch regulations; prepare reports and site inspections.
• Implement budgeting and financial management aligned with requirements.
• Develop and maintain the organizational structure to meet goals.
• Monitor operations for effectiveness and SOP/adherence across sites.
• Provide cross-functional leadership across departments (Menus & Procurement, Technology, Training, Free & Reduced, Finance).
• Oversee Manager/Assistant Manager training programs and initiatives.
• Manage kitchen facility planning, openings, and equipment procurement.
• Analyze facility data to inform renovations and equipment replacement decisions.
• Communicate nutrition topics effectively to diverse audiences.
• Develop emergency response protocols and service guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
