Job summary

District of Columbia Public Schools is seeking a Director of School Mental Health – School Psychology to lead a large team and advance district-wide mental health services.

The role focuses on strategic leadership, MTSS implementation, and collaboration with central services to ensure high-quality supports for students with diverse needs across DCPS schools.

Responsibilities include program leadership, staffing strategy, and ensuring timely assessments and outcomes aligned with district goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and five to seven years of related work experience.
• Master's degree in School Psychology required.
• Previous exposure to or experience in the education sector a plus.
• Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.
• Specialized experience in special education in an urban district preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads a team of program managers who supervise approximately 125 School Psychologists and liaises with principals to support service delivery.
• Develops and supports strategies and programming to ensure providers are credentialed, trained, and able to deliver evidence-based services.
• In partnership with MTSS, provides technical assistance to implement a schoolwide MTSS model.
• Develops staffing allocation strategy across the school psychology discipline for high-quality delivery.
• Ensures implementation of monitoring systems to measure effectiveness of mental health supports.
• Oversees timely assessment and quality reports in special education or 504 processes.
• Oversees professional development for school psychology staff and fidelity of IMPACT implementation.
• Plans content and supportive structures to promote internships and broad recruitment in school psychology.
