Job summary

Grady Health System is seeking a Director of Risk Management to lead the organization’s approach to identifying, assessing, and reducing risk across clinical and operational environments in Atlanta. The role partners with Quality, Clinical, Operational, and Legal leadership to build a proactive program emphasizing front-end risk prevention and system-level thinking.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and 2–4 years of leadership experience in healthcare, with preference for an RN licensed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• 2–4 years leadership experience in healthcare is required.
• Current Georgia Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) is preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills are preferred.
• Experience translating data insights into action and working cross-functionally with clinical, legal, and operational teams is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an integrated risk management strategy aligned with patient safety and organizational priorities.
• Identify system-level risks and translate findings into actionable operational improvements.
• Serve as a key advisor to leadership on risk trends and mitigation strategies.
• Lead incident reporting, investigation, and root cause analysis processes.
• Partner with clinical and operational leaders to reduce preventable harm and improve outcomes.
• Collaborate with Quality and Patient Safety teams to align risk management with clinical excellence initiatives.
• Support development of programs that strengthen a culture of safety and accountability.
• Partner with legal counsel on claims management and ensure risk insights inform claims strategy.
