Job summary

Talon Professional Services is seeking a Director of Risk Data, Controls Automation, and Reporting in a hybrid role, onsite in Jersey City, NJ. This contract-to-direct-hire position leads the risk data strategy and automates controls across complex environments.

Qualifications

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Experience with AI/ML in risk management preferred.

Job Title: Director - Risk Data, Controls Automation and Reporting

Overview:

Join our client's dynamic team as the Director of Risk Data, Controls Automation, and Reporting, where you'll lead initiatives to enhance the technology risk management framework through innovative data solutions and automation. This strategic role demands a forward-thinking leader capable of building a centralized risk and control database, integrating operational risk signals, and developing real-time dashboards that empower management to make informed decisions. Your expertise will drive the automation of controls and risk assessments, facilitating a proactive and data-driven risk environment within a complex, regulated organization. Required Skills:

  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in technology risk, IT controls, cybersecurity, infrastructure, or related fields within complex or regulated environments.
  • Profound understanding of SDLC, infrastructure, cybersecurity risks and controls, including risk modeling and control design.
  • Strong database management skills, including data modeling, metadata, lineage, and governance.
  • Expertise in developing or partnering on risk data repositories that integrate multiple technology and operational systems.
  • Proven ability to automate controls, conduct continuous monitoring, and develop automation solutions using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Skilled in creating live dashboards, KPIs, and management reporting for diverse audiences.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical risk concepts clearly.
  • Experience implementing AI, machine learning, or intelligent automation in risk management processes is highly desirable.

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Familiarity with enterprise GRC platforms such as Archer, ServiceNow GRC/IRM.
  • Knowledge of cloud risk management, DevSecOps, secure SDLC, and automated control gates.
  • Experience working within financial services, banking, insurance, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Background in applying large language models and AI agents to enhance risk processes.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Extensive professional experience in technology risk and controls, ideally exceeding 10 years, in environments with high regulatory oversight.

Other Requirements:

  • This role is hybrid, requiring three days onsite at our client's location in Jersey City, NJ.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any necessary security clearances or certifications.
