Description

Position Summary

The Director of Commercial Finance will serve as a key financial partner to the commercial, revenue cycle, and executive teams, providing analytical support for pricing strategies, payer contracts, and revenue optimization. This role will drive actionable insights into insurance payments, billing processes, and commercial finance decisions to enhance profitability and support business growth. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in pricing strategy, reimbursement models, and financial analytics within the healthcare or diagnostic laboratory space.

Key Responsibilities

Pricing & Commercial Strategy

  • Develop and maintain data-driven pricing models to optimize revenue, market competitiveness, and payer reimbursement.
  • Lead financial analysis for new test pricing, reimbursement trends, and pricing adjustments.
  • Provide pricing decision support to commercial teams, ensuring financial alignment with business goals.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Product teams to assess the financial impact of promotional strategies, bundling, and volume-based pricing.

Insurance Payment & Billing Analysis

  • Analyze insurance payment trends, identifying gaps and opportunities for revenue improvement.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) teams to evaluate payer reimbursement performance.
  • Identify and address issues related to denials, underpayments, and payment delays.
  • Develop reporting frameworks to track insurance collections and inform leadership on financial risks.

Payer Contract & Reimbursement Analysis

  • Evaluate payer contracts to ensure alignment with financial objectives, profitability, and reimbursement benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with Managed Care and Legal teams to support contract negotiations with insurance providers.
  • Monitor industry trends in reimbursement policies and regulatory changes that impact Baylor Genetics’ revenue streams.

Revenue Forecasting & Customer Profitability Analysis

  • Develop and manage revenue forecasts at both customer and aggregate levels, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business objectives.
  • Conduct customer profitability analyses to identify key drivers of financial performance and recommend strategies for improvement.
  • Collaborate with sales and account management teams to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making and customer negotiations.

Financial Insights & Decision Support

  • Develop dashboards and financial reports to provide real-time visibility into commercial performance.
  • Conduct scenario modeling, sensitivity analysis, and profitability assessments for strategic decision-making.
  • Identify revenue optimization opportunities and cost efficiencies across commercial operations.
  • Support leadership with financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting related to commercial finance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with FP&A, Revenue Cycle, Commercial, and Operations teams to align financial goals with business strategy.
  • Provide financial guidance to senior leadership on pricing, reimbursement, and commercial growth initiatives.
  • Support M&A due diligence and integration efforts related to commercial finance.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or CFA preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in finance, commercial finance, or FP&A, preferably in healthcare, diagnostics, or life sciences.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare pricing, reimbursement, payer contracting, and revenue cycle processes.
  • Strong analytical skills with expertise in financial modeling, pricing analysis, and data visualization.
  • Proficiency in financial tools and systems such as Excel, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, or ERP platforms.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial insights to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Experience in a growth-stage or IPO-preparing company is a plus.
