Job summary

PTC Inc. is seeking a Revenue Accounting Director in Boston, MA (Hybrid) to lead the revenue accounting function within Global Revenue Assurance.

The role blends technical expertise with cross-functional collaboration to scale a global software business and ensure ASC 606 compliance across revenue streams. The ideal candidate has deep SaaS/Software revenue knowledge, strong business acumen, and experience guiding complex initiatives with Finance, GTM, Legal, Product, and Revenue Operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Active CPA license.
  • 8+ years of experience in public accounting and/or revenue accounting.
  • Experience with ASC606 and revenue recognition in a software, SaaS, or subscription-based business model.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on revenue recognition matters, providing guidance on complex transactions.
  • Draft technical accounting memos, position papers, and analyses related to revenue recognition matters.
  • Review and assess the accounting implications of new product offerings, pricing models, and deals.
  • Partner with Sales, Legal, Product, Finance, and Revenue Operations to evaluate revenue recognition considerations.

Revenue Accounting Director – Boston, MA (Hybrid)

PTC is seeking a Revenue Accounting Director to join our Global Revenue Assurance organization. Reporting to the VP of Global Revenue Assurance, this role combines technical revenue accounting expertise with cross‑functional partnership to support the company’s continued growth and evolution. This is an opportunity for an experienced revenue accounting professional to play a meaningful role in shaping revenue processes, influencing business decisions, and helping scale a global software organization. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of revenue recognition within a SaaS or software environment, strong business acumen, and a collaborative approach to solving complex challenges. You will work closely with teams across Finance, GTM, Commercial Desk, Legal, Product, Revenue Operations, and Systems to ensure revenue accounting considerations are effectively integrated into business initiatives while maintaining compliance with ASC 606.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on revenue recognition matters, providing guidance on complex and non‑routine transactions.
  • Support the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of revenue accounting policies, controls, and procedures in compliance with ASC606.
  • Draft technical accounting memos, position papers, and analyses related to revenue recognition matters.
  • Review and assess the accounting implications of new product offerings, pricing models, commercial arrangements, and strategic initiatives.
  • Partner with Sales, Commercial Desk, Legal, Product, FP&A, and Revenue Operations teams to evaluate revenue recognition considerations associated with new deals and business initiatives.
  • Translate technical accounting requirements into practical business guidance that supports informed decision‑making.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders throughout the deal lifecycle to ensure revenue implications are identified early and addressed proactively.
  • Partner with Finance Systems, IT, and Revenue Operations teams to improve automation, efficiency, and scalability across revenue accounting processes.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve controls, and enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Support system implementations, upgrades, and process transformation initiatives impacting revenue accounting.
  • Participate in cross‑functional initiatives including acquisitions, integrations, system implementations, and process improvement efforts.
  • Monitor emerging accounting guidance and assess potential impacts to the business.
  • Support strategic initiatives designed to enhance the effectiveness and scalability of the global revenue accounting function.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Active CPA license.
  • 8+ years of experience in public accounting and/or revenue accounting.
  • Experience with ASC606 and revenue recognition in a software, SaaS, or subscription‑based business model.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a Revenue Accounting, Revenue Assurance, Technical Accounting, or Financial Reporting leadership role.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders across Finance and non‑Finance organizations, including Sales, Product, GTM, Commercial Desk, Legal, Revenue Operations, and Systems teams.
  • Experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, system implementations, or process improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Oracle, RevPro, Salesforce, and related finance or revenue systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to navigate complex accounting matters.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical accounting concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders, lead projects, and drive results in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.

PTC carefully considers a wide variety of factors when determining compensation. The anticipated annual salary range for this position is between$175,000–$215,000. The salary range reflects a good‑faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Additionally, candidates may be eligible for a performance‑based bonus. Employees also have the opportunity to become a PTC shareholder through our employee share purchase program (ESPP), which allows for the purchase of discounted PTC stock. Certain roles may also be eligible for participation in our equity programs.
