Job description

Your opportunity

At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.

At Charles Schwab, we put clients at the center of everything we do. As a Director on the Retail Client Experience team, you will lead complex, high impact initiatives including but not limited to the intersection of client experience, fraud risk, and money movement.

In this role, you will tackle some of the firm’s most challenging and ambiguous problems, where protecting and advocating for clients, enabling seamless experiences, and managing risk must all coexist. You will shape strategy, evaluate options, and influence senior leaders by clearly articulating tradeoffs and recommendations that improve outcomes for both clients and the firm.

This is a high visibility leadership role requiring strong judgment, executive presence, and the ability to drive alignment across product, risk, compliance, fraud, and technology partners.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead strategic initiatives focused on fraud prevention, authentication, and money movement, identifying client pain points and opportunity areas along with other initiatives
  • Frame complex problems, evaluate multiple solution paths, and present clear, executive ready recommendations
  • Partner closely with Client-facing teams, Risk, Compliance, Digital, Operations, Legal, Product, and Technology teams to balance client experience with sound risk controls
  • Serve as a client advocate, ensuring solutions protect clients without creating unnecessary friction
  • Build compelling presentations that translate complexity into actionable decisions
  • Hire, develop, and lead a small team, including responsibility for senior level talent
  • Influence outcomes across teams and leaders without direct authority
What you have
Required Qualifications
  • Background in strategy, consulting, or client product leadership within regulated environments
  • Demonstrated success navigating ambiguous problem spaces and driving alignment through structured thinking
  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills, including experience presenting to senior leaders
  • Experience partnering across risk, compliance, and control functions
  • Prior people leadership experience, or readiness to step into a people leader role
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in retail banking, brokerage, payments, or digital financial platforms
  • Experience working on or closely partnering with teams responsible for money movement, fraud prevention, authentication, or client risk
  • Track record of influencing decisions by presenting options, tradeoffs, and recommendations
  • Experience leading cross functional initiatives without direct ownership
