You will lead day-to-day restructuring engagements, develop analyses, and coordinate with clients, lenders, and legal teams to drive outcomes in distressed situations.

The role requires 9–12+ years in restructuring or distressed environments, strong financial modeling skills, and the ability to operate effectively under pressure and ambiguity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 9–12+ years of experience in restructuring, turnaround advisory, investment banking, consulting, or other distressed environments.
• Demonstrated success leading complex analyses and workstreams independently.

Responsibilities

• Distressed Situation Analysis & Execution Leadership: Lead day-to-day execution of restructuring, turnaround, and special situation engagements.
• Structure incomplete, evolving, or conflicting information into clear analyses and decision paths.
• Develop and oversee cash flow forecasts, liquidity analyses, financial models, and restructuring scenarios under compressed timelines.
• Identify key drivers, risks, and constraints across capital structures, operations, and stakeholder dynamics.
• Judgement Driven Problem Solving: Apply independent judgment in ambiguous, high-pressure environments.
• Design practical, situation-specific solutions rather than relying on standard playbooks.
• Balance speed, creativity, and discipline in decision-making to preserve momentum.
• Stakeholder Influence & Advisory Support: Interface with client executives, lenders, and legal advisors; coach on executive communication.
• Engagement & Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop engagement teams; maintain morale and productivity under pressure.
• Business Development Support: Assist MDs/SMs in proposals, market intel, and client cultivation.

Role Summary

The Director, Restructuring & Insolvency, provides hands-on leadership and execution across complex restructuring, turnaround, and distressed engagements. This role operates as a primary day-to-day engagement leader, responsible for translating ambiguity into structured action, driving analyses and recommendations under pressure, and influencing stakeholders toward outcomes.

The Director role requires strong independent judgment, a high tolerance for uncertainty, and a results-oriented mindset. Directors are expected to proactively lead workstreams, shape engagement strategy, drive execution quality, and serve as a trusted advisor to clients, lenders, legal counsel, and internal teams.

This role is well-suited to professionals who thrive in volatile environments, take initiative without waiting for direction, and maintain execution intensity across prolonged, high-stakes engagements.

Key Responsibilities

Distressed Situation Analysis & Execution Leadership

Lead day-to-day execution of restructuring, turnaround, and special situation engagements, actively involving and developing team members through structured exposure to senior - level analysis, decision - making, and stakeholder interaction

Rapidly structure incomplete, evolving, or conflicting information into clear analyses and decision paths

Develop and oversee cash flow forecasts, liquidity analyses, financial models, and restructuring scenarios under compressed timelines

Identify key drivers, risks, and constraints across capital structures, operations, and stakeholder dynamics

Judgement Driven Problem Solving

Apply strong independent judgment in ambiguous, high-pressure environments where precedent may be limited

Design practical, situation-specific solutions rather than relying solely on standard restructuring playbooks

Balance speed, creativity, and discipline in decision-making to preserve momentum and credibility

Stakeholder Influence & Advisory Support

Serve as a primary interface with client executives, lenders, creditors, and legal advisors on assigned matters, while coaching team members on effective executive - level communication, positioning, and credibility

Effectively influence stakeholders through logic, data-driven insight, and decisiveness—without requiring consensus

Navigate disagreement, tension, and competing interests to drive forward progress and outcomes

Engagement & Team Leadership

Lead, coach, and develop engagement teams, setting clear priorities and performance expectations while actively building judgment, confidence, and situational problem - solving skills

Maintain team focus, morale, and productivity during high - stress, time - sensitive situations, providing real - time feedback and guidance to accelerate learning under pressure

Provide structure without over - engineering processes or slowing execution, using live case work as a primary coaching and skills - transfer mechanism

Business Development Support

Support Managing Directors & Senior Managing Directors in business development efforts, including proposal development, market intelligence, and client cultivation, using these activities as developmental opportunities to build commercial judgment in junior leaders

Build credibility and long-term relationships that contribute to repeat engagements and referral activity

Gradually increase origination contribution consistent with experience and tenure

Leadership & Performance Expectations

Maintain composure and decision quality during periods of high uncertainty, pressure, and rapid change

Demonstrate initiative and ownership without reliance on constant direction or validation

Adapt quickly as legal dynamics, financial realities, or client priorities evolve

Sustain performance intensity across extended, demanding engagements

Preferred Skills

CPA, CFA, CTP, MBA, or similar professional credential

Prior experience serving in interim management roles (e.g., finance or operations leadership)

Exposure to Chapter 11 proceedings, out-of-court restructurings, or operational turnarounds

Established relationships within the restructuring ecosystem (lenders, attorneys, financial sponsors)
