  • Teach, coach and supervise staff to develop insights and performance.
  • Foster collaboration with physicians, Ph.D.'s, technologists, nursing and support departments.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Job description

Job Summary: The Director-Respiratory Care is responsible for the coordination of Murrieta Respiratory Care Services, that may include as applicable, RC Education and Research, Special Procedures Teams including Hyperbaric Oxygen and Interventional Bronchoscopy, Blood Gas Services, Pulmonary Function Lab, Materials Management. Responsibility: resolves problems and strives to continuously improve the quality of patient care; acts as a designer of work processes that meet organizational objectives, a teacher and coach who helps everyone in the organization gain insight, and a steward serving the people they lead and to fulfill the mission. Performs other duties as needed.


Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Science or Business Administration from an American Medical Association (AMA) approved school of Cardiopulmonary Sciences required. Master's Degree required or in progress. Minimum five years of supervisory experience within an academic environment. Minimum five years of clinical managerial experience required.


Knowledge and Skills: Knowledgeable in local, state and federal regulations and regulatory agency standards. Knowledge of medications, gases and equipment used and their side effects and methods of administration. Knowledge of the applications and care of equipment used, pulmonary function testing, EKG, EEG, and holter monitoring. Demonstrated competencies in respiratory care, administration, education and/or staff development required. able to use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position. operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Writing, speaking and communication skills. Constant inter-relating with superiors, peers and subordinates for resolution of problems and planning. Math, reading, writing, and understanding complex procedures and documents, operation of computers. Think creatively. Able to develop new methods procedures or approaches to achieve program goals and facilitate change. Exercises initiatives and sound judgment in identifying and solving difficult administrative problems. Is able to develop budget, long range strategic plans and research program. Must have demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with multiple physicians, Ph.D.'s, technologists, nursing personnel, cardiopulmonary staff and support departments. Able to distinguish colors, hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, identify and distinguish various sounds associated with workplace; see adequately to read computer screens and written documents.


Licensures and Certifications: State of California license for Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required issued by the Respiratory Care Examining Committee of Board of Medical Quality Assurance. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) issued by the American Heart Association required. ACLS is recommended in the adult settings, PALS and NRP issued by the American Heart Association recommended for the pediatric and infant settings.
