Job summary

The National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA) seeks a Director of Research to lead its research agenda and align it with strategic goals, strengthening the organization’s capacity to inform advocacy, organizing, and policy development.

You will lead rigorous research initiatives using NDWA data and external sources to understand domestic workers’ experiences and evaluate policy impacts, mentoring the Research Team along the way.

Qualifications

• PhD in economics, sociology, public policy, or related social science field strongly preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience conducting policy-relevant research using mixed methods approaches.
• Demonstrated expertise in quasi-experimental methods and analysis of large datasets.
• Proven track record leading complex research projects as Principal Investigator.
• Experience developing and implementing research standards and protocols in community-based settings.
• Strong quantitative skills with proficiency in statistical software (e.g., Stata, R).

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of NDWA’s research agenda and strategy.
• Oversee periodic online surveys and analysis of data.
• Lead research projects as Principal Investigator with policy impact focus.
• Apply quantitative and qualitative methods to large datasets.
• Produce rigorous research deliverables for diverse audiences.
• Establish research standards and ethical protocols.
• Design worker-centered research approaches with participatory methods.
• Advise internal teams on research strategies.
• Build and maintain partnerships with academic and policy organizations.
• Supervise a team of researchers.
• Manage team budgets and resources.
• Lead grant proposals and manage budgets with development team.
• Collaborate with leaders to ensure research informs NDWA’s work.
