Job summary

Invenergy seeks a Director of Project Engineering, Renewable Engineering, to lead the Project Engineering function for wind, solar, and hybrid projects. You will ensure consistent technical execution across EPC obligations, interconnection commitments, and engineering deliverables while partnering with PM and other engineering teams.

We expect 10+ years in renewables with leadership in multidisciplinary settings, strong EPC/contract experience, and readiness to travel up to 20%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years in renewable energy, power generation, or related leadership roles.
• 5+ years leading engineers, technical teams, or cross-functional projects.
• Experience with utility-scale wind/solar/BESS/hybrid projects through design, construction, commissioning, and operation.
• Strong EPC, interconnection, and technical coordination understanding.
• Willingness to travel 10–20% to sites and facilities.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Job Description

Position Overview

As Director of Project Engineering, Renewable Engineering, you will lead Invenergy's Project Engineering function for wind, solar, and hybrid projects. This role ensures consistent technical execution across project requirements, offtake and EPC obligations, interconnection commitments, engineering deliverables, issue resolution, commissioning, quality, and execution lifecycle project support, partnering closely with Project Management and all Engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop Invenergy's Project Engineering function, supporting wind, solar, BESS, and hybrid projects across Invenergy's renewable portfolio.
• Refine expectations for Project Engineers to ensure consistent technical delivery of projects, according to specifications and stakeholder obligations.
• Oversee Project Engineering coordination with other project stakeholders, including wind, solar, BESS, electrical, SCADA, transmission, civil, structural, GIS, environmental compliance, construction, and operations engineering teams.
• Ensure effective management of technical workstreams, including drawing reviews, RFIs, submittals, NCRs, technical issue resolution, engineering deliverables, and escalation of complex coordination challenges.
• Strengthen alignment between Project Engineering and Project Management for project technical and commercial success.
• Serve as a senior technical leader and escalation point for complex engineering coordination challenges across active projects.
• Manage relationship and engagement protocols with Consultants and Owner's Engineers.
• Provide leadership on project engineering support for financing and independent engineer due diligence, including coordination of technical responses and alignment with project assumptions.
• Drive portfolio-level improvements to specifications, contract exhibits, design reviews, scopes of work, and technical standards using lessons learned from construction, commissioning, testing, and operations.
• Develop and manage Project Engineering resource allocation, workload balancing and hiring strategy to ensure adequate support across all projects and project phases.
• Lead formal lessons-learned and root-cause analysis programs across construction, commissioning, and operations to improve project outcomes, reduce execution risk, and enhance engineering standards
• Own portfolio-level technical risk identification, mitigation planning, and escalation processes, ensuring integration with project controls, commercial strategy, and executive decision-making.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in renewable energy, power generation, engineering, project execution, construction, project management, or related technical leadership roles.
• 5+ years of experience leading engineers, technical teams, consultants, or cross-functional project teams.
• Experience supporting utility-scale wind, solar, BESS, or hybrid projects through contracting, design, construction, commissioning, testing, and/or commercial operation.
• Strong understanding of EPC contracts, offtake agreements, interconnection requirements, scopes of work, specifications, engineering deliverables, construction support, commissioning, and closeout.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary technical coordination across internal teams, consultants, contractors, suppliers, utilities, customers, and other stakeholders.
• Strong technical judgment, risk identification, change management, communication, and leadership skills needed to build and scale a Project Engineering function.
• Able to travel up to 10-20% of the time to project sites, vendor facilities, customer meetings, and internal offices, as needed.
• Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Base Pay

$180,000.00 - $220,000.00 USD Annual

Bonus: 30% - 40%

The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determin
