Release Train Engineer - BA06BE

The Release Train Engineer (RTE) at The Hartford is a pivotal role responsible for leading the Agile Release Train (ART) and ensuring the successful delivery of technology solutions for the Middle and Large Commercial (MLC) transformation program. This role extends beyond traditional Chief Scrum Master responsibilities, emphasizing end-to-end delivery visibility, leveraging AI to drive innovation and efficiency. The RTE acts as a servant leader and coach for the ART, facilitating program-level processes, managing risks and dependencies, and fostering continuous improvement. A key focus is aligning technology strategies, including Gen AI, with business goals to maximize value. The RTE also advocates, coaches, and educates within The Hartford on Agile and automation best practices, maintaining strong connections with external sources to bring innovative strategies, recent research, data, and tools to advance Agile maturity, productivity, and Quality Engineering Practices.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Lead large-scale technology transformation programs, utilizing GCP AI Platform/Vertex AI, AWS Bedrock, and Microsoft Azure CoPilot to solve complex use cases.
  2. Manage relationships with Product Managers, AVPs, VPs of IT Management, the Lean Portfolio Manager, and other leaders, ensuring alignment on roadmaps, feature prioritization, benefit realization, epic status, and risk management.
  3. Drive agile maturity at the program level, including planning reviews and sessions with stakeholders during ART Synch, Release Planning, Demos, Inspect & Adapt Workshops, and Scrum of Scrums.
  4. Facilitate Program Increment (PI) Planning readiness and events, preparing Vision, Backlogs, Roadmaps, and fostering Ideation processes.
  5. Translate business strategies into technology strategies, ensuring business capabilities are enabled effectively.
  6. Identify and implement enterprise-level continuous improvement initiatives.
  7. Execute workforce transformation strategies, including vendor resource management, to enhance productivity and technical understanding.
  8. Track and communicate ART and Engineering metrics, using data insights to identify improvement opportunities.
  9. Assess and mitigate AI bias and risks in AI-generated outputs.
  10. Utilize generative AI tools like Microsoft Copilot integrated with Power BI to convert raw data into actionable insights.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of IT leadership experience managing large-scale programs and change initiatives.
  • Proven results as an IT leader collaborating with business leaders and managing outcomes.
  • Deep knowledge of technology, software engineering, and Scaled Agile methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of aligning technology roadmaps with business strategies.
  • Leadership skills in coaching, mentoring, and developing talent.
  • Ability to engage effectively across all organizational levels, including senior management.
  • Experience managing complex vendor relationships and offshore delivery models.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills.
  • Experience leading IT transformations, building, managing, and scaling teams to deliver outcomes.

This role requires a Hybrid work arrangement, with in-office presence 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday) in Hartford, CT, or Charlotte, NC.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship. The company does not support STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsements for this position.

Compensation:

The annualized base pay range is based on market analysis and may vary based on performance, proficiency, and demonstrated competencies. The range is:

$136,800 - $205,200

Additional rewards may include bonuses, incentives, and recognition, forming part of The Hartford’s total compensation package.
